I have used a number of mouse-pads with either gel or foam wrist rests from three manufacturers - Belkin (too soft all-round), Fellowes (some very good, another only OK) and Kensington (quite good). About half of the total were either fabric surfaced or the foam wrist pads were fabric-covered and eventually one of two things always happens; either the fabric lifts from the base of the mat or the covering of the pad stretches and wears. With those that had a gel pad included, some of the pads were too hard and therefore uncomfortable during long periods of use or too soft and no less uncomfortable. This time, the gel feels just right with the correct amounts of support and some flexibility.

The only real criticism is with the dimensions of the pad. Normally, most of the travel for a mouse will be predominantly horizontal and mirroring the format of the screen. The usable surface of the mat is longer than it is wide if the rest is at the bottom which has always felt to be the correct orientation for any broadly similar mouse pad. I may rotate it a little to the right for comfort, but not by 90 degrees. It is therefore curious why the manufacturer has chosen to label this across one edge of the pad in such a fashion to suggest that its correct orientation should be horizontal, when the wrist rest is no longer in a usable position and probably to the right.

As, with my own mouse, full-screen travel left-to-right only requires about 75% of the pad's width and vertical travel top-to-bottom only requires about a third of the pad's height, it suggests that the pad could be shortened by a few centimetres and will then look as is it were correctly proportioned.

The only problem you have with these is that you tend to PLAY with them while waiting for things to happen on the pc ,so you poke prod pull rub the gel humps and this makes them split. Then you can't help by doing the picky picky getting the gel all over the place)
I have ordered my 4th one .... and 1 more because they are so good to use before you mess them up...You might not do the picky picky so get one.

I bought this mouse mat (along with the matching wrist rest) to alleviate the pain that RSI was causing me, and it did exactly that. I disagree with the comments above that the mat is too small and doesn't work well with an optical mouse. I have a Microsoft IntelliMouse and I've never had a problem with the mousemat. I can also get from one side of the screen to the other in less than a sweep of the mat. I am a woman with small wrists and it's absolutely fine for me. I really can't fault this product at all. It's much better than the cheap foam one I have at work.

I have had this mousemat for a while now and its still great. I used to have an old dell mouse (Dell are rubbish dont buy Dell btw). Anyway, when this mat was new it had a great grip and traction on the track ball in the dell mouse. The many dimpled surface has worn a bit but it still grips the track ball as well as it ever did.
I upgraded to a laser mouse about a year ago, as that works perfectly as well, no problems whatsoever. I cant really comment on optical mice, but from my experience most of them felt cheap and jumped to the end of the screen a lot from subtle movements anyway.
As for the wristrest itselt, its amazingly squidgey, you'll be poking fun at it for ages, though this was my first gel rest. Something that is annoying is that others who sit at your desk will try to pop it open so the gel oozes out, this hasnt happed though despite great efforts from various people. The rest is on the firm side and of course plastic coated rather than the softer fabric coated belkin gel rests.
Another fantasic thing about it is that the underside of the mat is made from sticky squidgey rubber that will adhere to any flat surface, so it wont move about while your using it. This can lead to the eventualy build up of dust and debris on the underside, but you can rinse it off... its all plastic.

For me its great, makes my pc seem 100 pounds more expensive due to its professional look. Be warned however, if you need a large mat or use your mouse in large turning circle movements this will not suffice, and it will not replace a gaming mat, which arent comfortable at all but ensure you wont run the mouse off the mat easily. But im a gamer dabbling in the old Oblivion and UT3 goodness and i have not a problem with it...BUY IT.

This is a well built gel mouse mat, and stylish too. The gel pad(s) are extremely comfortable and even after just 3 days use seem to help combat RSI.
The actual mat is supposed to be designed to work well with optical mice (mouses?). However I find that my first generation microsoft mouse, although great under normal use, struggles if you move it rapidly. The mouse is fine on other (non reflective) surfaces.
Would like to try a different device, but for now only 3 out of 5 for this product.

It's stylish, and really practical. You peel off the protective layer at the back to reveal a thin coating of adhesive which although it doen't rivet the mat to your desk, makes sure that your mat doesn't slowly creep around when gaming. Total winner!
Another thing - you can comortably move the pointer to every inch of the screen without having to reposition your hand :-D
And... the wrist support is ergonomically designed to have a dip so that the heel of your palm rests in perfect comfort. 20/10!
