About the Author
In the 1970s, when wrestling was followed by millions of fans every week, a mysterious, masked wrestler was to debut on British television screens and quickly become an icon. The anonymous man was a silent Japanese warrior, a physical powerhouse, and a fighter whom no-one could defeat. His name was Kendo Nagasaki. Little did his fans know, the man behind the mask was not from Japan he was from closer to home and his journey to superstardom was the hard-won result of self-belief, application, and overcoming adversity. His story begins in 1941 as an adopted war-baby from the West Midlands. Following years of struggle and loneliness at school, hampered by undiagnosed dyslexia, he seemed destined for a bleak life of physical labour. But an unexpected path emerged; a path born from dedication to Judo and Zen and training at the world s toughest Catch Wrestling school. From here, the great Kendo Nagasaki would ultimately emerge, and ascend to the absolute pinnacle of British professional wrestling. Now, for the very first time, the complete story of the secretive warrior and the man behind his mask Peter Thornley is revealed, in his own words. This honest and absorbing autobiography follows Peter's life before, during, and after his career in the ring. It lifts the lid on his personal life, the world of wrestling behind the cameras, his success with different businesses, and his current endeavours with the Lee Rigby Foundation. Indeed, all the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Foundation to support its work. Kendo Nagasaki and The Man Behind The Mask offers a fascinating, revealing, no-holds-barred account of Peter Thornley's - and Kendo Nagasaki's - extraordinary life.

But even if you're not a Kendo Nagasaki fan or even a wrestling fan this is a fantastic read, a real 'rags to riches' story about a truly fascinating and enigmatic man, it is really a remarkable tale, proof that truth is a lot stranger than fiction at times.
Well written, going through the ages of this mans life, this is a real roller coaster ride of a truly well lived life. Touching and moving in parts, always riveting involving many aspects of changing times, the LGBT struggles of people, the trials of an adopted person, and a man determined to make the most of his life for the benefit not just of himself but many others.
All proceeds from this book are going to the Lee Rigby KN Foundation charity, I can't recommend this book enough, couldn't put it down, I was laughing out loud at stages, and very moved at other parts.
As I say, not just for the wrestling fan, treat yourself to a remarkable book about a remarkable man here.
After over half a century of keeping his life very private we now can read about a very interesting life in and outside of the wrestling ring.
An easy read yet very difficult to put down!
From a very hard start in life the author tells us how he turned his life around after meeting key figures during his youth who inspired him to become a successful man in different fields.
With added contributions from his close friends past & present we get a fascinating insight into the life of a man who has helped others a great deal as well as entertaining the nation as the greatest wrestling villain the Country has ever seen.
Whether it be inside a wrestling ring or in the world of commerce the author has led a busy and colourful life.
A top read even if wrestling isn't for you.
Loads of great photos + an incredible story about a wrestling icon, who because of the secretive nature of his character contains tonnes of information previously unreleased.
An added attraction to this book for wrestling fans who may not be familiar with Kendo Nagasaki, is that his career started in a bygone era which gives honest insight into an old school world of grappling that has been untouched in most books already out there.
The proceeds of this book go to a fantastic cause too! I can't think of a single reason why not to buy this brilliant book!
