The WOK is poor quality ,much too light ,has no weight to it and is therfor way over priced for the quality or should I say lack of Quality .
Does KEN HOM no service
The wok almost seems a bit on the flimsy side. Having said that, I would imagine the reason being thin metal is for quick & even heating (needed for stir frying). I have done one stir fry in it and I was happy with the results (though I am learning to stir fry mind you). I have read reviews on here about the teflon (topbon) flaking off, which I can imagine will happen if you're not too careful in it's care. AVOID USING METAL UTENSILS AT ALL COSTS! Once you scratch the teflon base your on a downhill battle...
The wooden cooking utensils are fine (definitely on the cheap side). The lid also feels flimsy, though I imagine I will not be using it much unless I am steaming. The lid is of course metal so I am cautious when placing it in the wok in fear of scratching the teflon up. The booklet that came with it is a stretch to call it a recipe booklet (unless you want the same recipes in several languages) so that is a bit of a joke. The assembly was simple enough. I can see the handles needing tightening every now and again (much like Ikea furniture).
If you want a budget wok and are prepared to think this item will give you a few years instead of a lifetime and you can find this at a good price like I did, then you would do well to get this one. If you are looking for a lifetime wok - look elsewhere! Worth 3.5*'s - not 4 or 3. I am rating it on that scale due to price I paid. If you're paying full price then keep it in 3*'s category in your head. I will update after a few months usage.
