This is a clearly-written, practical guide extending to 64 pages, being aimed primarily at the beginner, although the lack of an index means it can be difficult to locate informtaion. It includes coverage on the differenct varieties, which are illustrated in colour, although there is very little informaiton abotu thier genetics. --Practical Reptile Keeping Magazine

She didn't realy mean to write this book, it started off as a short guide and just grew.

I'll be taking some of this advice with my axolotl, including getting him/her (I'm not sure which it is!) a friend to live with!
The reviewer who complained about the terminology obviously hasn't read the book, or else would see that the term 'reptile' is used as Axolotls are from a branch of lizards, but are "wholly aquatic, a unique and genuine oddity".
This book covers all the basics you need to know, and I'd highly recommend reading it before setting up a tank/purchasing your first Axolotl if you've not owned one before. I would also recommend joining the axolotl forum at caudata.cog, where you'll find many friendly and helpful people too!
This book has given him a kick start into his research as it contains a lot information that is perfect for beginners like himself. It is full of practical and very useful advice. It as good a range of questions and answers. It is clearly laid out and it is easy to follow each section. Before I gave it to him I 'flipped' through it briefly and the photos are really nice and clear, perfectly showing off Axolotls naturally smiley faces!
I eagerly look forward to any future publications by this author.
It has a lot of important information broken down into managable sections; it's clear, coherent and very informative earning my five star rating.
Not only did I enjoy reading this, aided with some great photos, but also learnt a lot.
