You need very little space or equipment, light hand weights, a towel and chair or something to rest your arms on for balance.
The workouts themselves are very much similar to what you will find on The Barre Workout / Exhale / Fusion dvd, in so much there is some Callentics, Lotte Berk, ballet type exercises. The thing is they really do work to tighten on tone your body.
Think slow, controlled, precise movements that work the muscle deeply.
If you like leaping about for your workout you'd better look eleswhere.
A good addition to my regular routine and Kathy comes across as encouraging and warm rather than creepy like the Lotte Berk Stepford women!
First time I tried it, I couldn't believe that I got beaten by a 57 year old lady!!
Kathy gives you a hard and effective 65 minute toning program. She gives good instructions during the execises, and you can feel the muscles burn do to the many variations and repetitions.
The workout consists of 5 sections: warmup, arms and upper body, thighs, bum, abs and cooldown.
There is a nice little extra feature if you want to customise your workout: You can add the different sections seperately and thereby create you personal workout program.
Kathy Smith has the best credentials in the business; she is a walking, lunging, crunching inspiration and testament to the fact that if you put the effort in, you earn the results. There's no faffing about, it's straight down to business, each repetition within each set of each exercise is effective. No wasted effort and no gimmicks, you're targeting your muscles in a very precise way, stretching them out and moving on.
You can modify each exercise to match your level of strength, fitness and flexibility and throughout Kathy is warm, encouraging and sincere. This one DVD will take you as far as you want to go - banish bingo-wings and tighten your buns or go all the way to a complete hard-body with the long lean lines of a dancer.
Also the exercises themselves are targeted and require effort, but she has managed to get a full workout done without having to buy weights or special equipment. Very good dvd for at home toning with results.
If you want high octane - look elsewhere. If you want a rather unexpected fitness challenge, give Kathy Smith a try!
I am a big fun of Kathy Smith - for over 10 years I have been doing exercises following up her videos. She is good and I would recommend her videos, this one is definitely one of my favourites, It is quite complete and you can chose from 10 minutes to 50 minutes exercises and you can chose /set up if you wish to do the whole program or you wish to concentrate in the legs, abs.... and chose the exercises accordingly.
This DVD is easy enough to follow, allows you to break a sweat or two and progress to a higher standard should you choose.
I would definitely recommend.
