First impressions are its well made, I filled it and left it to hang to check for leaks, and nothing, so far so good. Large rigid fill cap makes it easy to fill, cap is stiff but has to be to seal well, a lose cap would be no good!
Mouthpiece: A nice "bite valve" is good to avoid drips running out after you drink, and also has a cap that fits well. It doesn't feel rubbery like other bladders, is this a good thing? I suspect it is, seems more durable. Drinking tube does not kink like I have seen on some bladders, so little chance of blocking your supply. I chose the 3 litre as I consider this a minimum for a day pack, with room to spare if you need to drain water to boil for hot drinks on a a hike. this unit is part of my emergency go kit, so has to be reliable, and the brand is very well known.
Cleaning: You can get inside the large opening to manually clean, but my choice is milton sterilising tablets, if they are good enough for new born baby bottles, they are good enough for me, and cheap with ease of use.
Really happy I didn't buy from local store, (Decathlon) they all seemed poorly made, even camelback which are supposed to be the standard, I could be wrong, but I spend a lot of time examining survival kit, because one day, it might just save a life.
In the end, I needn't have worried, as the bladder is of surprisingly high quality. The construction seems sturdy, with no leaks no far. I didn't taste anything strange the first time I used it, and I really like the mouthpiece design, with an on/off tap and bite-valve, and a clip over cover for the mouthpiece.
My only personal issue with it is that is is quite long and narrow, which is slightly less suitable for my own bag, but that is something that I should have looked at - just a warning to check yourself.
Overall, very happy with this hydration bladder, and for the price it can almost be a throw away item for a trip or two.
You can buy dedicated cleaners but we just use a splash of diluted Milton's Baby Bottle cleaner which is quite cheap.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with the 1 Ltr version - it certainly would have been too small for our needs.
I would recommended / buy another of the same if ever required.
Watch out if you buy from SportsDirect via Amazon as I did, as I think the £3.99 postage pays mostly for a massive catalogue that also will be delivered with it. I would have much preferred to receive another famous SportsDirect Pint Pot over the weeks worth of fuel for the stove that this catalogue is. I got one once when I ordered a rubber mallett... The only improvement that could be made to the Karrimor Hydration Bladder is if it could stop the tent blowing down and the boots filling with snow, but I guess I'd have to pay rather a lot more for one that did THAT. I should have propped it up with the SportsDirect catalogue.
The water used did initially taste a little of plastic but after 3 long runs this seems to have disappeared.
I bought it to go in a Deuter 10litre rucksack, which works well.
I recommend this product.

I'd not tried it for my snowboarding trip to France! Filled it the first morning and it started leaking from the thread that attaches the suction tube! Really disappointed with it.Published 8 months ago by Amazon Customer
First bladder, though I'd go cheap as it would only get used now and then, mistake. From day one I have had issues with the valve and mouth piece working. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Nicky Young
