About the Author

Henrik Kniberg is a coach and consultant at Crisp. Henrik's background is a mix of development and management, and his passion is applying Lean and Agile principles to help debug, optimize, and refactor companies. Henrik is the author of Scrum and XP from the Trenches and Kanban & Scrum, making the most of both and a popular keynote speaker at conferences worldwide. Henrik lives in Stockholm with his wife and four kids, and in his "spare time" plays bass and keyboard with two local bands.

Mattias Skarin started his journey in software development by asking himself a simple question: how do you succeed with software? He is a professional Lean and Kanban coach and has been helping software companies improve since 2007.

I thought it was useful to compare the approaches with some god insights. Easy to read and the illustrations are useful, but I downloaded it form the InfoQ website so I was a bit surprised to see it for sale here.

I bought this for reference purposes after reading the on-line version.

The on-line version included some nice color illustrations, but the book is black and white so these were not so clear which was disappointing.

Pretty good, each chapter is nice and short. I can't help but feel though that the whole booklet isn't really just a series of short blog posts comparing the different aspects of each approach. Part one, written by Kniberg, is certainly the better half of the booklet. Use it if you need a quick intro to Kanban vs Scrum that you can share with a new team, otherwise you could probably pick up 95% of the content on blogs. People already even moderately versed in Kanban won't find anything new here however.

I received this book for Christmas, and managed to read it by New Year's. I read it whilst doing my hour each way commute to work and back for a couple of days. Each chapter is normally only a couple of sides. I found there to be enough information as an introduction. I'm now reading another book on the topic to gain a deeper understanding. I've come back to work ready to (hopefully) turn things around.
