I've used Kamillosan with all 3 of my babies. It has been useful for nappy rash, dry skin and cracked nipples. It's quite thick and greasy (it has left oily stains on fabric so be careful) but it is soothing and it works. Although I'm no longer breastfeeding I still use it on various cuts, grazes and sore areas of skin.

My mother pointed me in the direction of Kamillosan when I was having a few problems with sensitivity and soreness, just as her mother had done for her. I am so glad she did.

I was surprised at how quickly it worked. After 24 hours and a couple of applications the split skin was starting to heal and the associated soreness was significantly reduced.

The lanolin and chamomile base soothes the affected area and that soothing helps with the soreness. Chamomile is known for its soothing, healing and antibacterial qualities. Lanolin also has soothing a ability. The company decided to combine the two and came up with Kamillosan and I thank them for it.

It does have a strange smell, but it is not unpleasant. In fact I found it strangely soothing. It probably triggered a memory from when my mother used it when I was a child

You must make sure that you wash it off before you feed your baby or express milk for later usage.

Kamillosan is not just a one trick ointment. According to the companies literature you can use Kamillosan for nappy rash, stings and bites, eczema and other dry skin conditions, sunburn and minor burns.

I can testify that the ointment works on burns. I recently suffered a nasty splash burn just below my collar bone and it became gooey and inflamed. As a last hope rather than go to the walk-in centre I applied a thin layer of Kamillosan before I went to bed. The kill-or-cure idea worked surprisingly well. After only three days the inflammation has started to go down and, though it is still gooey at times, it looks like it is finally beginning to heal.

I can recommend Kamillosan to anyone who is nursing a child or who has a minor burn. I will certainly be adding a tube to our family first aid kit.

Used it when I was breastfeeding and it's brilliant and not sticky like vaseline and works wonders. So I continue to use it for various skin conditions and it's a great lip balm. Excellent product and highly recommend and smells lovely.

Although this cream was OK it was a nuisance as you had to ensure you removed it from your nipple area before feeding baby, much prefer the Lansinoh creme which is fabulous and doesn't need to be removed before feeding.

Although intended for mummy's nipples, seems to be very effective against preventing the onset of nappy rash and general soreness of the nether regions. Easy to apply and not as messy as Sudocream (which is difficult to remove, whereas Kamillosan ointment gives no such problems - Sudocream is better as a barrier when nappy rash has already set in quite badly). Personally, I apply this stuff to my childs bottom every time he's had a poo and to any other red patches I spot in the general area of the nethers; so far, he has not had anything that I would describe as "nappy rash" and is nearly 17 months old. It is fairly expensive stuff, but all the alternatives are too; however, it does last a very long time - this is the only tube I've used since his birth and it's just run out after 17 months - obviously, this depends on how much you use and how often. [Not to be confused with the jars of Kamillosan cream (which is more like Sudocream) - see my review of this product.]
