About the Author
David Chaim Smith was born in 1964 in New York City. His education and early career was as a visual artist throughout the 1980s. In 1990 he began an immersion into the Hermetic Qabalah, which included ritual work with several occult orders. In 1997 he abandoned visual art for dedication to mystical practice, from which came a unique blend of Chassidic mysticism and traditional Kabbalah with Hermeticism. This coalesced through working with the 13th century text 'The Fountain Of Wisdom', which he mapped out diagrammatically. The resulting symbol system served as the basis for his 2007 return to visual art. He currently lives in New York City with his wife Rachel.

Helps one break through the veil
on 12 November 2013 - Published on Amazon.com
This book is really helping me understand concepts that were very obtuse for me about Kabbalistic epistemology. And, like anyone not raised in a particularly spiritual environment it has taken me a lot of hard work to get where I am in my understanding of esoteric knowledge. Like much of this type of study, one needs to put oneself "in the zone" so to speak to grok these mystical concepts, and this book is no different: one needs to read it slowing and mediate on passages before one really absorbs the wisdom. If one has the patience and drive to do that you won't be disappointed. David has done a good job in guiding readers by explaining the symbols and the mystical language of kabbalistic "song" and the tree of life symbols, and how these concepts relate to the biblical story of Genesis. He explains how the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil represent where man is cognitively in his understanding of himself and the cosmos. One of the best books on western esoteric tradition IMO.

This is a special book. The depth of its contents engages one in a process of contemplation that results in a worthwhile personal mystical investigation. The writing is dense and the ideas are complex, which give this book a certain charge. It is worthwhile to digest it over a long period of time because the ideas are just mind-blowing. The more I become familiar with the author's intent the more I realize that this book is alive. This is the kind of book to be treasured and I am thankful to the author for sharing with us his knowledge and writing such a heartfelt book.

Flowing through the veins of the tree, Smith takes us on a unique journey viewing Kabbalah through his unique perspective. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to expand their awareness of micro/macrocosmic thinking and the relationships between the two.

David Chaim Smith's 'The Kabbalistic Mirror of Genesis: Commentary on Genesis 1-3' is a Mikvah to be immersed in; radically original, potently purifying and afresh, every line, every time.
