However, what I needed was a hard copy manual to brouse and learn whilst away from the PC. This is the manual I needed.
This makes it hard to understand some graphics, like engine performance since the lines are decoded by colour. Minus two stars for that.
You don't get them anymore because (a) Flight simulators are not popular enough anymore to justify the additional cost and (b) shops prefer all the game boxes to be the same size (otherwise they dont fit on the shelves!), and that size is a standard DVD case with no room for anything other than an instruction pamphlet (or a pdf manual).
For those of us who love the old school ethic, you can now get the massive ring-bound manual seperately. Result!
All I need now is the keyboard overlay card and fold out map and I'll be in retro-gamer-geek helo-sim heaven :)
The main thing you should know about the book is that it is printed in black and white not colour. That said, I didn't miss the colour while reading it, all the information you need to glean is well presented and clear. The PDF book is already very good, so it's no surprise that the hardware version is also very good.
The front & back cover are made of stiff cardboard, which does make it slightly difficult to flick through the pages sometimes using the bend-the-cover flipping action used by most people, but on the other hand it is also a ring-bound volume, meaning you can simply flip the whole cover around to the back/front/wherever.
All in all a very nice product.
