Product Description

KXM is like a match made in heaven. K stands for Korn, X stands for King’s X and M stands for Lynch Mob. These three individual musicians already achieved a lot of success on their own but what they created here on their self-titled debut album of this new SUPERGROUP is something really precious and special. They first met on the birthday of Luzier’s one year old son and Ray showed them around the house and also the studio he had built. They immediately hit it off and decided to make a record together. Ten days later they had a record - almost. Line up: George Lynch (Guitars; Lynch Mob, ex. Dokken), Ray Luzier (Drums; Korn), Doug “dUg” Pinnick (Bass & Vocals; King’s X) Written and composed by KXM as a band unit almost straight after they met for the first time - this debut album came almost out of nowhere. They just started jamming without a clue what they will do with the material that was growing from the jam sessions they had occasionally. They had no management, label, crew or anything - just the three grown up men and their fun of playing together. The album is produced by Chris Collier (Lynch Mob, Tommy Bolin). After being done with the first ten songs all of a sudden several labels showed interest in signing the trio but they needed two more songs. And they only had 2 days left to write and record them. “Rescue Me” which is the first video from the album is one of the two new songs and a brilliant example on how effective this band works. dUg states: “I’m not good with pressure but in the end it worked out. I look back at it and it’s a labor of love.” KXM is a real band not just a project for the three members and they are already talking about going back and writing more songs. “we realize we’ve got something we really like and we’re having fun with it.

I loved the original version released on RatPak earlier this year. A great groove, heavy with some underlying melodic touches, lots of riff's, amazing drums and production, and it the songs to go with all that. Lynch's playing seemed reserved to some degree, I had hoped for more of his great solo's. But, it didn't spoil it, its a new band, a new vibe and a great one at that.

Then comes this, the "EU Remix" on a different label for the EU. No doubt the label wanted it tweaked to attract buyers (as it had been already out for 2 months and gone Top 30 in the USA). I'm glad to say it is worthy of buying it again. This is no small little tweak to the mix, most of it sounds different and better!! I read somewhere that when Lynch heard it was going to be tweaked, he took the opportunity to do some more recording, change a few parts here and there and its very noticeable. Lots more solo's, some great playing. There's more layers in the rhythm guitars, re-recorded vocals and some subtle changes to the arrangements and intro's. If you liked the original version, then you'll love this. The remix / re-recording has only enhanced and embellished the songs further.

Its a monster record, the sound is immense and its probably the best work from ALL involved in years. Dug P in particular really raises his game here on this version with his best vocals i've heard.

Definitely worthy of a re-purchase, this is not a cash-in re-issue with some poxy bonus track that was left off first time around. Its a substantially improved version that fans are going to love.

Although I truly want King's x to come out with a new album that will equal Dog Man or Gretchen, we have to acknowledge the absolute strength of this album! The pedigree of the musician's are never in doubt! I'm ashamed to admit I never really liked Dokken but Lynch as a guitarist I've never had any doubt that he could shred! On this album the songs are very groove based, Lynch lays down some detuned and tasty riffs, Dug sings his gravely voice to the heavens and Ray seriously kicks the living crap out of his drums (many of his intros are tribal like!).Highlights: Faith is a room, Burn, Rescue Me, Gun Fight, I'll be ok. Bonus tracks: Instrumental Tranquilize-not bad, very groovy; Rescue Me radio edit-works brilliantly! I still get caught off guard with the off beat!

A great album guaranteed to rock your socks off because KXM feature three of the best rock musicians in the business George Lynch, Dug Pinnick and Ray Luzier. It is a blinder of an album as you would expect from these three guys so if you like Lynch Mob, Kings X and Korn go and buy it, sit back and turn up the volume to maximum !!

This new 'supergroup' side project was only annouced not too long ago really, and so it has come quite quickly.
I am a huge KING'S X fan, and fan of the singer/bassist here Dug Pinnick's solo albums and other side projects. Then you have the current drummer from Nu-Metal legends KORN hitting out on all tracks. They have been a great band usually. Then on guitar we have George Lynch. This guy is probably less well known and loved over here in UK, but he is a very fine and very talented guitar player, with his own bands and projects over the years.
It is great to see already that this album, only out a couple of weeks has shot right up the charts in the US, which says much about the strong talent involved here.
Many people might not know the music of Dug the singer's main long lasting band KING'S X. They have always produced great, often stunning rock albums, initially labelled a 'Christian' band, but can simply now be seen as just a fantastic, sometimes spiritual great heavy rock band who have influenced bands such as Pearl Jam, KORN, Deftones, and many more. Even Paul McCartney was a big fan.
So here we get a great solid strong album, with the vocals of Dug-often sounding like Hendrix or Sly Stone, plus his awesome funked up heavy basslines carrying the songs along.
The drumming goes from being very tribal, groove hitting similar to KORN but also much quieter and controlled on other songs where needed.
Then finally the guitar playing of Lynch all over this album fits just perfectly. For a guitarist best known for his late 80's rock work, he does not blitz away all over the top of the music here. His riffs and hooks just fit really well across all of the songs, and all three musicians here seem to have connected perfectly in writing and playing this really fine great rock album.

For fans of KORN, Foo Fighters, grunge, heavy rock, alternative rock and more. Let's hope they put out more like this in future.

If you are a Lynch fan this album is a balance between Dokken and the classic riff solo riff songs and the less conventional but equally brilliant Lynch Mob. Full of new songs (rather than Dokken reworks) it's a great album. The drum, bass, vocals and of course unique Lynch sound and genius shine through. This isn't an immediately accessible album, liked after the first listen I can't stop playing it after five.....

Great album, having heard who was in this collaboration had me worried, I need not have troubled myself-three very different performers have come together to create a great whole.
