This is a nice easy romantic read, there's no surprises or shocks, a few inconsistencies but nothing major, some good characters, two stubborn individuals, a little romance and a few troubled teens thrown in for good measure.
Oddly, everything got straightened out (without Caitlin going to jail) and the resort was not sold. But Brandon would only let the camp continue with one condition. That was that his brother, Dalton, had to run it with Caitlin. Dalton agreed to the condition and actually liked working with the kids, seeing the difference he made in their lives.
Dalton didn't want to be tied down in the family business but liked being the rodeo cowboy that could be free to go on the circuit with no responsibilities. I like Dalton. Especially the way he faced the fact that he allowed a woman to kidnap him - with a curling iron no less! - but still lived up to his commitment to work at Stoney Brook.
I admired Caitlin's determination to do whatever it took to save the camp for the kids. However, she was a little toooo clumsy for my liking and I didn't see how Dalton fell in love with her because of her antics. I chalked it up to chemical attraction but that wasn't enough for me to see her appeal. Having said that, Dalton and Caitlin were a good match in that they offset each other's weaknesses.
Ms. Brookes had me laughing from the first page to the very last. She also works some very heartfelt and touching moments into this remarkably unique tale. Her writing style is smooth and the story flows steadily forward. The storyline itself was captivating and unique. She had me guessing throughout. I highly recommend this book.
This is a soft and subtle romance, but there are a few fairly noticeable inconsistencies in it, but they don't manage to detract much from the book.
We have Caitlyn our feisty yet petit camp leader who is desperate to save her camp for troubled teens but manages to kidnap the wrong brother.
Dalton is the black sheep of his family as he left to follow his dream and not look after the family business.
Dalton is kidnapped by Caitlyn and he finds himself very intrigued by an accident prone woman how sets his pulse racing.
After a meeting with both brothers, Caitlyn can only go ahead with the summer camp with Brandon's stipulation that Dalton agrees to be in charge of it.
It soon becomes very clear why Caitlyn is so passionate about the camp, and not only has Dalton fallen hard for the girl, he has found he has loved helping the kids in challenging them to be better people.
A god soft-hearted romance.
