At first, I could not get on with this, I thought it would only capture my colour slides as negatives. I spent two hours trying to work my way round the manual and trying to follow the rather limited instructions. The instructions are very basic but this machine will copy colour slides in negative format, colour and black & white. These settings can be achieved by going onto the capture tab (you do this by pressing menu, a little colour screen appears and by pressing the button marked flip, you can erm ... flip through the selections on the menu) once you get to the capture tab hit the scan ok button, this takes you further into the menu. Once in, you get to a screen where you can choose film or EV (haven't worked EV out yet so can't advise) but once you click on the film choice by hitting scan ok, you hit scan ok again and this is where you get the choice of negative, colour or black and white. Scroll through the choices using the flip button, once you get the one you want, in my case colour, hit scan ok and off you go. Obviously repeat these steps if you want black and white or negative.

Hope this helps, if only the manual said that!

The scanner was delivered very quickly in a protective shock resistant box within a close fitting cardboard outer. Quickly read the instructions, inserted the sdhc card connected to a power source, then hunted out some 35mm negatives. Carefully placed the negatives in the designated holder, inserted the holder into the scanner and pressed the top mounted buttons to select negatives. Pressed the button to scan, slid the holder to the next position and repeated the scan procedure. After completing the negative strip I removed the sdhc card and viewed the results on my pc. The scan results were very good and very suitable for printing. This is a simple to use scanner that produces satisfying results without having to be attached having to be attached to a pc to scan 35mm Slides or Negatives. This is a very good scanner.

Easy to use. Transferring 4 slides at a time onto 8GB SD card supplied and then transferring them onto our laptop at the end of a very enjoyable evening looking at slides that would be almost lost due to previously having to set up screen and projector. Now we can burn them to CD and slideshow them on the TV via the DVD player

Firstly it looks a little bit plastic in appearance and cheap looking but after a few trial runs it works very well and transfered the slides to the sd memory card supplied until I tried to copy them to the computer and the card failed losing all the 4 hrs work, not happy, bought new memory card and started again worked perfect all slides saved for the future

Impressed so far although the slide tray is a little difficult to open and the instructions are awful. Once I worked out how to change it from the negative image, it was fine.
