I like some of the unique features, and the hardware seems pretty good. However there are some big failings. I expect it is the delay in software updates that causes inexplicable problems at times. I had a few weeks where it simply wouldn't send e-mails, and would take days to download them. Then out of nowhere the problem fixed itself. The feature to modify the permission for Apps was one of the key reasons I bought this. However, I have found that the permissions reset to default universal access, I suspect it happens after updates. It means you must manually reset them each time. The phone is also prone to the odd freeze and crash.
The USB cable that comes with the phone works fine, however there is a problem connection to other USB cables. I charge wherever I can, but most standard USB cables disconnect from the phone much too easily. The phone comes with a screen protector, which is a nice feature. The screen is too big to use with just your thumb. I knew the size when I bought, but I think now any screen over 4.3" is pointless.
I respect what Wileyfox is trying to do privacy/control wise, but they need to better refine their next effort. I would hope a smaller phone.
The other big issue I have is the camera its slow to use and the photos are poor quality and as I have become so used to using my camera phone its now a real pain knowing that the photos will disappoint.
I have also had no 4g service from shortly after purchase as I noticed people were always getting my answerphone and it turned out that there is an issue with the 4g receiver. My only option was to return it and wait 14days for repair or set the phone to just 3g to I have chosen to use 3g for months now.
The biggest issue has been with the screen. With all the smarrphones I have had over the years I have never broken a screen until now the swift screen cracked after a small drop onto hard ground from my pocket while sitting down. I have also had a blur appear on screen beside the volume control which looks like the pressure of using the button has damaged the screen over time.
The build quality just isn't good enough and the battery life is well below average. I really think this new brand just gasbt had the resources or time to develop this product well enough before launch as with a bit more refinement and durability it could have been great.
Since updated to Cyanogen os 13.1 (runs over Marshmallow) without any issues at all. the ready fitted (plastic) screen protectors don't do justice to the actual screen underneath and I would recommend getting rid as soon as a few scratches appear. The real screen (Gorilla 3) has an anti-reflective and oleophobic coating, quality unexpected from a phone in this price range, or far higher for that matter. the 2GB RAM is more than enough for Marshmallow to run smoothly and the Cyanogen OS on top is an absolute delight in personalisation, something which may surprise anyone coming from Apple. With Marshmallow, you can install an SD card and use it as 'internal' memory so most apps (notably those without widget capability) will install to the SD without problems (I have 32GB SDHC cards in both, more than enough for us, but I know that people have successfully used 128GB SDXC card without issue). I do all the usual stuff, banking, games, browsing and have not found it struggling with anything. Sound output through 3.5 jack is fantastic and the inbuilt EQ is great, though speaker is fairly average. Coming from a reasonably high end Xperia, I have been pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The sheer adaptability of Cyanogen has been great, but does not go too in depth for those not experienced with this OS, all previous android users will feel right at home. Despite this it is still fairly wedded to Google apps, though this is to be expected considering they own Android, but everything else is removable and there is no bloatware present. The security is par none, so anyone concerned about what data their apps are harvesting will be very happy as this is fully controllable. The 'baked in' Trucaller (which I used in previous phones) is a godsend and works flawlessly. I appreciate that some people have had issues with the (very slightly) non-standard length of the micro USB cable, but if anyone needs a spare one, the 1m cables from Poundland (sorry, UK only I suspect) lock in perfectly. Camera is far better than my old Sony (which had an Exmoor RS sensor), this uses a fairly generic Samsung, and the improvement is huge (with the right camera app). The only disappointment has been from Amazon (unusually) as I ordered both phones together, the black went up by £20 the day I ordered (from £99.99) and the next day the white model went down by £30 the day after, so I lost out nearly £50 overall, very frustrating. In recent times Amazon would have cheerfully refunded this difference but after two calls to Customer Service this policy apparently this no longer happens. Of course I could have sent the phones back under the returns policy and reordered, but this would be a waste of my time and Amazon's, and I would have had to be without this great phone for even longer!
If anyone has any questions I am more than happy to help if I can, but if you are wavering, do try this phone, I am sure you will not be disappointed!
