Kärcher K2 Home
The K2 Home is a small, lightweight and portable machine, used for cleaning exterior items including patios and decking, cars, bicycles and garden furniture. An upright design, wheels and a long handle makes this machine easy to use and to maneuver and the on-board storage solution means the trigger gun and accessories are stored neat and safely with the machine. A pressure switch control switches the motor on and off when the trigger gun is pressed and released, whilst an impact-resistant, recyclable plastic casing effectively prevents dirt particles from damaging the motor and pump. All Kärcher K2 Pressure Washers can also be used from a gravity fed harvested water source such as a water butt tap.
Features & Benefits
Used in order to achieve variable pressure control from low-pressure to high-pressure jet by simply twisting the spray lance. It is connected onto the end of the trigger gun with its bayonet design.
A powerful rotary nozzle designed with a rotating pencil jet which can provide up to 50% greater cleaning power than a standard high pressure lance, meaning it could be useful for removing stubborn dirt on moss covered or weathered surfaces.
T50 Patio cleaner
Used for the splash-free cleaning of even surfaces such as patios & decking, provides increased cleaning power with two rotating flat jet nozzles.
Patio & Deck detergent pouch
500ml of detergent concentrate simply add water to make up 5 litres of patio & deck detergent, designed in a practical pouch for storing. For gently removing oil, grease, dirt which is caused by emissions, moss and soot from balconies and terraces made from wood and stone.
Mobile, lightweight & Powerful
The upright design is designed to aid a good working posture and mobility is made easy as it is designed with a high handle and wheels. It is designed with an Air-cooled 1400 watt motor which makes it powerful for its size.
Provides a storage solution for the Vario Lance, Dirtblaster and electrical cable on the machine itself.
Detergent suction tube
This particular model is designed with a detergent suction tube, which allows you to draw detergent from a container. The unit will draw the detergent through the unit when the product is drawing water at low pressure.
Automatic motor and water inlet feature
All Kärcher pressure washers are designed with an automatic stop/start motor so the unit isn't continuously flowing during your cleaning application. The inlet filter is already built in the unit, this filter prevents debris entering and damaging the pump.

What you get is a big box containing the jet washer, spray lance, lance extender, the T-Racer floor-cleaning attachment, and a 500ml pack of detergent. It's all packed in simply, which means you can actually get the bits back in the box without much bother. This makes storage a bit easier. You can dis-assemble the handle and remove the wheels, too. They just snap together. Actually, it's no more difficult to store than a vacuum cleaner.
The main unit is about the size and weight of an upright vacuum cleaner. It stands 783mm high, and weighs about 5.6Kg. It is plasticky (isn't everything these days) but feels very solid. You'll need a high-pressure water hose (my Gardena hose worked fine), which you connect to the back of the unit. You screw the lance hose to the front, and plug the unit into mains power. Turn on the water, and switch on the main unit, and you are ready to go. The water pressure is adjusted via a twist control on the lance. The lance trigger also has a safety catch. It makes sense to wear safety goggles when using jet washer, but none are supplied. Glasses are not expensive but, given that being smacked in the eye by flying debris is a real risk, I am amazed that they are not included. Then again, other manufacturers don't seem to include them either.
The lance produces an impressive, flat fan-shaped jet of water. I tried it out by cleaning a concrete yard at full pressure. It blasted away to clean concrete in a single sweep of the lance. I did the same with the T-Racer, which worked even better, cleaning in one sweep, but cleaning a broader area at a time.Read more ›
The jet wash gun trigger switches the motor on and off. This is not made crystal clear in the manual and took a bit of figuring out. Have given only four stars as yet, will follow up later when I have used it more fully, but so far an excellent purchase.
I have now purchased the 6m high pressure extension hose (giving a total of 10m) and it makes a huge difference in mobility when in use. I've still subtracted 1* because I think the unit should be sold supplied when new with at least 6m of high pressure hose so removing the necessity for this additional purchase.

- I bought the package with the patio cleaning head. This rotating head barely works effectively. It does remove some surface dirt but does not remove all moss, lichen and weeds. The effective tool to do a proper job was the normal lance spray attachment which comes as standard anyway. I should have saved money and not bought the optional patio cleaner head.
- it is a long cleaning job but very satisfying to see the results. Each block has to be cleaned individually and all the cracks need to be flushed out with the lance at close proximity. The 250 sq m paving took me three half-days to clean. Then, when dry, you have to refill the cracks with kiln dried sand. A therapeutic exercise.
- as this machine is air cooled, Karcher recommended not to use the equipment continuously for "too long". The operating manual does not specify what "too long" means. I contacted Karcher and they recommended no longer than 25 minutes continous operation.
When that popped its clogs a few weeks ago we decided to splurge on a Karcher. We have just moved house and have acquired a 120 foot garden with lots of grimy things to blast clean. We are also having a lot of building work done, and wanted something for cleaning up plaster, cement and brick dust.
The patio at the house was almost black, but the Karcher - using the most powerful lance - revealed it to be a lovely honey coloured stone. I was seriously impressed. I know quite a few off road cyclists and motocross riders who rave about their Karchers, but I have never really understood how good they actually are until now.
The setting up is, it has to be said, a bit of a faff, but it is worth it in the end because of the results you get.
Essentially you connect the machine itself to a garden hose (or a water butt with a suitable connector) then connect the device to the mains electricity supply. Fit the high pressure lance, or the adjustable one, or the patio scrubber and away you go!
In use the lance connector hose is a bit stiff and you need to wrangle it about now and again, and the electricity supply really needs to be waterproof because a lot of liquid does get sprayed and splashed around.
You have the option of just using water or you can pump detergent through the machine to really deep clean stuff.
I have used it for my bicycle, the aforementioned patio, railway sleepers, large rockery stones and as a clean up tool after building work at the front of the house.
Everything came up clean with the minimum of effort.
The photographs shown the mucky patio, with many years crud on it, and as a comparison, the patio being cleaned up by my daughter (who is now something of an expert with a Karcher) and the true colour of the stone slabs being revealed.
A genuinely useful household gadget.
