Now Im assuming there's an underlying management decision here to re-release an album that was released originally in April, but anyway it's still a cracking album.
The new bonus tracks handbags and gladrags, and surprise are an excellent addition to Stereophonics latest studio efforts.
Handbags and Gladrags, a Rod Stewart Cover, brings out the true heart and soul in the Sterephonics. Watching Kelly sing it live (as I did in Sheffield ) is amazing. Kelly seems to be able to sing with 20x more passion without having to concentrate on his guitar.
Surprise, as featured on the Have a Nice Day Cd Single, brings us back to Phonics earlier stuff like Word Gets Around. I don't know why, but it just sounds like it could've fitted on that album.
Alot of people on the original release of JEEP criticised it because they compared it to the previous two albums. Its definitely different, but that doesn't make it a bad thing. The lyrics and vocals show a lot of soul and the effort shows on the music production. "Rooftop" is an amazing atmospheric song, you really feel like you're up there on the rooftop with him and is probably my favourite track.
Whatever the reason for the re-release, I've had to buy it again, and give it the loyal five stars.

When I brought this album, I was just soo excited. Having seen them live at Reading the year previous, and owning both of their previous albums, I was really looking forward to hearing this. Unfortunately, it turned out to stink more than my shin pads after a sweaty game of football. Gone are the songs full of riffs, top tunes (Not to be confused with chunz, these are entirely different I must add), instead are lots of slow, poppy, numbers that teenage girls and mums over 50 are gonna like. (Sorry if you are either of these). Although, over the last 6 months, it has slightly grown on me. Only because of the incessant radio play all these songs get. And I brought it before Glad Rags was added to it. Hump! If you liked there last two albums, don't get it. If some of the songs in the past have been a little too hard on your ears, then put you false teeth in the glass, turn up the fire, put away you walking stick and enjoy. It still gets two stars, because the enigma that surrounds them.

I know people think this is very mellow, but hey if they set out to make a mellow album then they did a dam good job! As a teen I try to keep up in the music scene with what is hot an what isn't, E.G. "Chili Peppers" good, "Pussycat Dolls" bad. I was worried that it would be a filler album because I had only heard their singles (which I loved to bits) Have a Nice Day, Mr Writer and Handbags and Gladrags. So I was very pleased when I found that there was only 1 song that I didn't like as much (but I didn't even disslike that one, "Everyday I Think of Money")

Vegas Two Times: Fantastic first song, one of the more rock orientated tracks. 8/10

Lying in the Sun: A very chilled track, some interesting lyrics. Perfect summer song. 7/10

Mr Writer: It took me a few listens to get into but could be one of the best songs on the cd. The fact that the song itself is quite different but still manages to impress. For ingenuity, 9/10

Step on My Old Size Nines: Another summery song with cheery lyrics, no glitches here that put me off. 7/10

Have a Nice Day: Brilliant song, one that you want to sing along to. It's more of an up-beat pop song than a summer track but genuine instruments, so no techno sounds (which you probably thought when I mentioned pop). 8/10

Nice To Be Out: Could be a filler but it's not, it only seems that way because it's surrounded by some very impressive tracks. This one is more mellow again, its a shorter track with another summer feel, so it's a good song that you should never tire of. 6.5/10

Handbags and Gladrags: Could be a the best song on the album, it is a cover but it is very similar to the origional Rod Stuart creation.

Unfortunately or maybe that's fortunately I didn't buy the previous albums that established the Stereophonics, and I only bought it as I liked MrWriter so much, and I agree with what's been said- there's no songs that will instantly stand out and will be playing throughout the day, however after a few listens to JEETP all the way through and listening carefully to the lyrics it's quite amazing how he puts such emotion and the 'how it is' emphasis into almost every song. My fave remains MrWriter but I also find Maybe and Nice To Be Out thoroughly enjoyable and a good sing along, I've bought the previous albums and understand people's disappointment that this one didn't quite cut it, but in my opinion it's a totally different compilation of styles that cannot be compared with each other. I think it's unfair that this should be criticised at all, there is no bad song on this disc, however there are GREAT songs on the previous outings, but I think this is more indepth and has more feeling to it. I'm very pleased I bought this and to people comparing this with the others - you can't perfect perfection, but you can get pretty close...and this is it 5/5
