Just Deserts by Kelly Collins a sugar sweet five-star read. This is the first book in the Decedent series. The first book by this author I have read, it won’t be the last, its hot and heavy and not suitable for less mature readers, as it does contain scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing extreme.
“Life is uncertain. Eat desert first” quote from Ernestine Ulmer, this quote sums this book up the book shows that life is uncertain, so you should take every day while you can. Don’t live in the past as if you do, you may lose your future.
This tells the story of Katrina Cross, she is a pure hearted individual, and just wants to finish school and find a job in her field, Kat is quiet and studious, she works hard to achieve her goals, working full time in a coffee shop to pay her school bills, she would do almost anything she can to help people whom she loves. When her best friend and roommate Emma asks her a massive favour, she initially refuses. Emma runs an escort service that has enabled her to pay for her house and school, it’s something that Kat would do personally, but she understands why Emma would. After much begging as Emma has double booked herself and needs Kats help to take one date with a man she has been out with several times, he’s rich and hot and it’s just a charity gala dinner, he just wants a pretty, educated lady on his arm as he doesn’t date. He just pays for company when he needs a date to a function.
When she agrees to go on one date the man who Kat agrees to go on that one date with is Damon Noble, and that one date will change everything for both of them.
This book is great, it sucks you in until you can’t wait to read the next page, and then the next until you have read the last, then makes you sad as you have finished the story.

What a fantastic start to this series! Made even better by being free on Kindle Unlimited!
I really enjoyed this book, it made me laugh, cry, cringe, growl, grumble and melt. What more can you ask for from a book?
I loved both characters, they may not be ‘the norm’ for their age but this is exactly what makes them so appealing! Katarina is sweet, thoughtful and whilst she is not a virgin she is very innocent and inexperienced, she knows this and it makes her very wary of men and their intentions! Whilst she looks sweet and innocent, she is determined to stand on her own two feet and wants a career, but not one handed on a plate and you can only respect her for this. Damon challenges Katarina and her beliefs on numerous occasions and each and every time she stands her ground, showing the fire and sparks she keeps hidden until she needs them – very refreshing!
Damon is not used to people saying ‘no’ and has never come across a woman not after his money or using him for his social position. He keeps his heart and trust locked up and threw the key away years ago. Katarina brings him to his knees and whilst he fights it, denies it, doubts it he slowly realises that he has only been living a half life, one in the past. He finally realises that if he wants a future he needs to bury the past, and open his heart up to the possibility of love and happiness......but has he left it too late? Has he destroyed any chance of convincing Katarina she is everything he wants and needs?
This is a lovely read, it may not be realistic, but we read to be lost in fantasy and this book is perfect for that! The rest of the series is also available on Kindle Unlimited, I am hoping they are just as good!

I have always heard the saying that the dessert is the best part of your meal, and Damon and Katarina found that to be true, but dessert in their case had nothing to do with pie, cake, or what we usually associate with dessert. I loved this book. I thought it was so real and raw. Sometimes you have to miss someone, to see how much you love them. It is a story of love that did not follow a traditional path, but a path nonetheless. Reading this book, I did not want to put it down, and it had me smiling, crying, and laughing. You know it is a really good book when it hits your emotions like that. I highly recommend this book!

This is a read that will not be forgotten quickly. It is romantic journey with two people who are about to embark on the ride of their lifetime.
Kat and Damon were great characters, ones that you are given the time and opportunity to get to know and to be enthralled by.
Kat is a determined character, one that has take’s no prisoners, and doesn’t suffer fools but since she was a little girl she has dreamt of nothing more than finding love with the man of her dreams.
Damon was simply glorious, his appearance oozed success but he had a bucket load of issues all curled up inside. Having issue sis one thing but dealing with them is completely different Damon is a rare breed, he wanted to rid himself of the demons that dwelt within.
The story was far from normal, it was full of light and funny moments, rich in emotion and glowing hot in the sex between the two, of them. There was very little that was off the table when it came to these two getting it on, they knew no bounds and without going too far they took their relationship to new heights.
They really are fabulous together, Damon pushes Kat out of her comfort zone while Kat gives Damon the shoulder that he needs to lean on while he rids himself of the past that torments him.
The author did a great job of keeping this book grounded, of keeping the story real and the characters honest. The emotional content was super and the dynamic not only between Kat and Damon but also between the peripheral characters in the book.
If I have one wish having finished the book it would be to have a little bit more of Trevor – he was just amazing!!!
