Harry Page was one of the stars of that Golden Age, when the enormous egos of tabloid proprietors clashed with each other in the constant battle for circulation, and did so by employing very talented photographers, and journalists, not only to provide the images and copy that their readers wanted, but also to ensure that their work arrived back in their offices in time for the first edition.. If you want to read about the glamour of a wet afternoon at Winchester Crown Court, or the hardship of photographing Diana on Mustique, this book is for you. Throw in the difficulties of getting Ronnie Biggs back from Brazil or snapping Gary Glitter inside a Vietnamese prison and you have a very entertaining read. If you have any interest at all in the legend that was Fleet Street, do not miss this book

"Harry sounds like one hell of a nice guy" That was a direct quote from someone who borrowed my book.
She is right...Harry Page has a passion for his work. His enthusiasm shows with each assignment whether it's the glamour of a Royal trip in the Caribbean or door-stepping a very ordinary person on a cold wet day. This book gives a welcoming insight into how a picture makes it from an idea to the front page. You may remember seeing many of the pictures Harry talks about in his book and now we find out the trials and tribulations he goes through to get them there.
An excellent read, couldn't put it down , highly recommended ....and please do a second book!

An amazing insight into the life of a Fleet Street photographer. What a career Harry Page had! A walk through the news stories of the last few decades and how those stories were obtained. Absolutely fascinating and a thoroughly great read. Finished it in a day as I couldn't put it down!

Having worked in the golden age of journalism Harry has enjoyed a most fascinating life, finding himself embroiled in love, war and tragedy beyond belief. Through this book Harry allows us a glimpse of his life and experiences which results in a series of stories which are hard to put down. This opportunity to see life through the lens of a Fleet Street photographer should not be missed.

When I saw that one of Fleet Street's finest had written about some of his adventures I went to my iPad, downloaded the Kindle App and read it in one evening. A great read that gives a great insight into the world of the old-school tabloid photographer.

My review lost a start because I know the pictures that Harry mentions and I was reading the book with those images in my mind. Had I not known them, I would have enjoyed it a little less

If any publisher wants to pick this up and do a printed edition they should negotiate for the rights and add some of the pictures that he describes because they are classics of the genre and would move this from four to five stars.

I know Harry personally and know him to be a great storyteller. This talent, coupled with such fascinating subject matter, makes for a truly engrossing read. Anyone brought up on the newspaper headlines of the past 30 years will have memories flooding back and get a captivating insight into how these stories were pursued across the globe. More please…

Wow.

The stories this man has to tell are amazing. Absolutely fantastic to see things from the other side of the lens; the subterfuge that's involved and the interesting tales he tells about the famous.

You won't be able to put it down. And if you can persuade Harry into your event to give a presentation on his photos, don't miss the chance. I've seen him in action. Fascinating!!!!
