From the people who brought you Las Vegas Grind-at least these have more tasteful sleeves. The dense sound is because the recordings were dubbed from actual singles and sound all the better for it.
Probably total sales for the 60 odd tracks on both volumes were considerably less than an Elvis single of the time but instrumentals depended more on radio play to get them off.
Safari by the Treble Tones sounds like a No 1 single with a strong Champs influence but with no sleeve notes you have to go on Gemm to find out what labels put this stuff out
Worth mentioning is a groovy instro by the Youngsters called Zebra

4.0 out of 5 stars This CD swings and rocks 1 May 2006
By Cool Cat - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Awesome! This CD is the ultimate in cheese 50's Exotica. A bunch of rock bands soaking the Exotica craze for all its worth. Gritty and goofy tropical rockers from one hit bands belongs in any collecter's of weird vintage music. It doesn't get better than this. Although most of the prices of the sellers are ridiculous and if you look hard in the internet you can find both for way cheaper. The high price of the CD is worth it. Trust me!

5.0 out of 5 stars grindhouse classic 9 April 2013
By katie taylor - Published on Amazon.com

this compilation sets the perfect mood, assuming the mood you want is a seedy, sleazy, dark, smoky nightclub.... which is a mood i adore. it's quirky and fun and off color. remember when sexy was fun?
