The story revolves around Iris and her discovery into the world of BDSM after her husband dies and she learns more of the world he kept hidden from her, she finds herself at Juliet acadmy with the hopes of meeting new people and learning more of who she really is and what her true desires are. Iris finds herself falling for Sal the leading male he's a bit of a bad boy lovable rogue type, there are many other characters/P.O.V's going on within this book and to be honest I found myself confused at times I struggled to keep up. According the the blurb this is classed as graphic BDSM but I wouldn't say it was that bad, it's an erotic read with a few twists and turns and a bit of mystery thrown in, on the whole it's decent read.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book through Quill and Ink Review Team.
There are a lot of characters in this book; all of them play a role in Iris’s journey of discovering herself. To me she was a bit of a mess and I worried about her for a lot of the book. I was drawn to Sal from the beginning; he’s such an interesting character, there’s so much to him that I feel I’m missing out on because of not reading the Initiation first; I’m dying to get deeper inside of his head. I’m curious about so many of these characters and their own journeys as well.
As much as I loved parts of it, there were other parts I found lacking of information, it just left me confused and needing more. If you are looking for graphic scenes, you won’t find many and they are quite tame. However there is heat from all the looks, touches, and mostly anticipation…...that I found myself blushing. I have to wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if it were a duet or trilogy, spreading the story out to build excitement for the next one.
This is my first book by Kailee Reese Samuels and I am curious to read The Initiation and more about Sal.
A Book Lover’s Emporium
Unfortunately because of that reason i had to keep stopping and starting it as i had arc to be read in between, i do feel as though this went against the book as i couldn't give it my full attention like i would with a standard size book but having said that i still very much enjoyed it.
The book starts off in a completely different place to how it ends and wow the author takes you on a journey in between.
The story focuses around two main characters but we see a whole cast of people along the way and learn their stories.
The books main focus is to do with the BDSM lifestyle so if that is not for you then i wouldn't read the book.
It is well written and that speaks highly of the author that she could write such a long book and still keep peoples attention throughout.
I will be reading more from this author.
I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book with no obligation to review, the words are completely my own.
Be prepared, this book is long due to the detailed nature of the story but if you are drawn in by the blurb it will be well worth it.
The main protagonists in Juliet are Iris and Sal, we follow their developing relationship, the highs, lows and everything in between.
Iris is trying to uncover the mysterious trail of breadcrumbs left behind by her husband, leading her to the small inconspicuous town of Sugargrove, Texas. Here, Iris is thrown into a world she could never have expected to find. She also has the pleasure to capture the eye of the one and only Sal Raniero with his hypnotic green eyes and tattoos.
This is a roller-coaster ride of emotions that will captivate and entice you. Welcome to the world of Juliet.
Story starts with iris and chance and their relationship and how it develops with him being way older than her and her teacher they marry and live happy till he goes on a evac being in the military. So when iris gets the call saying he is dead she grieves for him.
Sorting through his things she finds out something that shakes her to the core and this is where she ends up In sugargrove and at an academy called Juliet, a school for people who practice bdsm. This is where she meets sal who is a sub but wants to train as a dom. The back and forth between these two is infuriating.
As the story unfolds you get to delve in the minds of many characters as this story is told my many pov's.
All in all it's a great book and the cliffhanger at the end just gets you screaming at your Kindle beware you might need tissues I know I did .
This story is infuriating, frustrating, sexy, emotional, and with BDSM. Be warned the tissues are required, as well as wine and chocolate. I am in awe of this author’s talent, and the way in which the reader is drawn into this storyline. I was hooked and enthralled throughout. Absolutely cannot wait for the second book.
