and violence, which did not further the story, that I skipped . Oh, and the story.....
trying to glibly deal with serious trauma and PTSD, can't even begin to understand why this author thought it would be remotely entertaining. Really need to focus more on characters and plot than sex and associated violence.
I know all the Torpedo Ink members are screwed up by their past. They're all rough round the edges with questionable behaviour. Still, for me, Reaper was too much of a jerk, particularly toward Anya, and it made it difficult to like him at times. I like my 'heroes' to be bad but with a mooshy heart of gold underneath when it comes to their women. I just felt that the balance wasn't quite there with Reaper. There wasn't enough good behaviour to balance out the nonsense.
In spite of that, I DID like the book. I love Torpedo Ink and their screwed up members. I liked Anya, although she could have used a little more backbone in standing up to Reaper. There was plenty of backstory going on, and I look forward to the next book.
The storyline was thin and padded out unnecessarily with graphic sex scenes which became tedious and really boring after the first few pages. The characters were not particularly interesting or believable and overall the book was very disappointing and a waste of money. Don’t think I’ll bother with the next book in the series
I know that the author can do much better!
That said, Feehan’s action scenes are about the best in the business, and she nails the ‘tight group of friends’ dynamic, so yes, I will be buying next in series.
