I moved from the US and brought my good kitchen knives with me but not the knife block because it was too bulky to pack in my suitcase. I looked online for a solution and found magnetic knife strips! I was so excited! I have never seen these in America and it is so genius! I went with this one since it was larger than others and I have a lot of knives. I do NOT know how I lived without this before! My knife block was so bulky and took up so much countertop space, i hated it. But now I have my knives securely hanging over the sink, totally out of the way! It is even kind of decorative and nice to have my knives on the wall. And I now wash them and hang them up right away since it will drip towards the handle and away from the blade. So convenient! I used to baby my knives and wash right after use and towel dry them immediately before putting them in the block.
I currently have 9 knives of various sizes on it, and there is a bit of space between each knife. Easily fits 10 knives!

This item was very good value for money compared with other magnetic knife holders. It is big, takes lots of knives and the magnetic pull is strong enough to hold heavy items, scissors included. I would certainly recommend this particular item to others for these reasons. I do think that knife holders in general are a real boon as they keep knives sharper (given that they are not rubbing up against other cutlery) and they also save space on surfaces and in drawers. I am delighted.

This was extremely frustrating! I bought it to use behind my hob and intended to use super strong tape to stick it to the tiles as I am not confident about drilling into them! Unfortunately this thing is hollow in the back so there is nowhere to put the tape. I eventually glued some slim slivers of wood to fill the space and then attached the tape. It has been up ever since and is now brilliant! Super strong magnet and is perfect for what I needed.

I bought this in August 2012 and it has worked decently for 4 1/2 years, although I have regularly had to push the magnet strips back in place, as they ever so often have started to climb out of the plastic back plate.
However, today those magnetic strips suddenly decided to jump out totally. Both they and all the knifes fell to the floor, while the plastic back plate stayed in place. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get them back in.
I'll try to be more careful when buying the next one. Will probably go for one with steel backing and pay a bit more.
