Product Description

By using downward pressure and a rocking motion, this tool breaks up garlic cloves quickly and easily, forcing the pieces up through the mesh of holes in its base. The crushed pieces are then held in the curved design, allowing them to be spooned or scraped conveniently into a pan or bowl. Additional cloves can also be crushed at this stage before emptying. Rocker is easy to clean under running water but is also Dishwasher safe. Available in a range of colours or in a brushed metal finish. Dishwasher safe.

Box Contains

1 x Garlic rocker

There is a certain way to use this item (and I bought the full metal item as it would withstand a certain amount of abuse - read on). To ensure the garlic does not stick, just drizzle some oil on the honeycombed area then crush your garlic. If the bits are too big (as some other reviews state, but which I didn't really find) just scrape off the garlic and rock over it again. Because you have oiled the item before use, the garlic should come out of the holes with ease if you upturn the tool and just bang it out on the chopping board. Any remaining stubborn bits can be easily poked out with the end of a pointy chopstick. In an ideal work JJ would have provided a second tool to get the bits out; however, life is not ideal and you just have to be flexible. I never get 'garlic fingers' as I wash my hands in cold water (it stops your pores opening and the garlic smell getting in). I hope this helps any potential buyer as this is a nice bit of kitchen kit.

Crush, crush, crush away! Sometimes we crush up whole heads of garlic just for the fun of it. I'm glad it's dishwasher friendly though cos it can be a bit hard to get the garlic out of the little holes. Don't lick them. Just saying.

I had expected this to be really good from reviews I read. For me it not the best utensil for garlic. It does not crush very efficiently and is NOT easy to clean. It now just sits in my drawer and I chop and crush my garlic myself!

This product does not so much crush garlic as beat it into submission.
The cutting edges simply aren't man enough for the job. It makes the whole process hard work, and it doesn't do anything that a good flat hefty bash on the flat side of a a knife-blade can't.. Aesthetically pleasing, it may be, fun gadget to look at, perhaps...
Useful? Up for the job and fit for purpose? It ain't.

Waste of money.

I have used this about 6 times it was very good but then snapped. The plastic is not strong enough to hold the metal crusher when pressing hard enough to crush the garlic. It is a shame as the idea was very good.

The reason I love this garlic crusher is primarily how easy it is to clean compared to traditional garlic presses.

However, one thing to note is the holes on this crusher are larger than your regular garlic press; so yes it's easier to clean but that's because of its design and slightly larger holes.

I have uploaded some images so you can hopefully get a an idea of this little press will be useful for you but instead of replacing my regular garlic press it has gone in the kitchen drawer alongside it. Sturdy and easy to use, all in all pleased with purchase.

I'll start of by saying that I'm not much of a gadget fan. For something to deserve drawer or shelf space in my kitchen it has to deliver on ease of use, quality of the task it performs and ease of cleaning. I'm a keen cook so find myself most days chopping garlic. Whilst not the most onerous task in the world I nevertheless wasn't keen on the daily garlic chopping/crushing/slicing activity. Also, I don't like smelling of garlic. So I took the unusual step of buying a gadget with only one designated use - and I'm really pleased I did. The rocker looks beautiful ( I got the all steel one) and it has turned one of my least favourite tasks into a doddle. I now start with preparing the garlic because it's so easy. Unlike other reviewers who didn't like the item I find that a few drops of olive oil over the cutting surface results in almost no bits of garlic stuck in the holes. I also find that a quick scrape out and a second going over results in an almost paste like result which is useful for recipes requiring a paste. It is also easy to prepare several large garlic cloves simultaneously as you just keep on going without having to open, close, scrape etc as with a garlic press. Cleaning is usually a tap on the chopping board, a quick rinse under the tap and a few seconds with a washing up brush if needed before being popped into the dishwasher to remove the olive oil. My mother in law, who suffers from arthritis in her hands used it when visiting and commented how much easier it was to use than a garlic press - and easier to clean. Unlike a press which requires hand strength, the rocker uses your arm strength and downward pressure which comes from your upper body. You can use the palms of your hands rather than your fingers to operate the device meaning that arthritic hands can operate it with much greater ease. All in all I would recommend this product and has already bought a couple as gifts.

Bought one a these a couple of months ago, although it does the job I find it really hard to clean even with a brush. Mine snapped in half after a couple of months, sent it back to Joseph Joseph they never even acknowledged my letter despite being sent recorded delivery so although I love this product range this is the last thing I will buy from them.
