I picked this book up from NetGalley, as the cover drew my eye, and the above synopsis piqued my interest...I'm glad that I did get it, as I wasn't disappointed.

With a heady mix of voodoo, murder and a rekindling passion, this story is fast paced and will keep you on the edge. With a great set of characters and storyline.

Can not wait to start the second book in the trilogy - Liam!

4.0 out of 5 stars NEW ORLEANS MAGIC INDEED 4 Jun. 2017
By C. L. West - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
As the first in the series of three about magic and murder in New Orleans, Rebecca York's JORDAN introduces us to lovers separated a half dozen years before. Jordan O'Reilly, now an officer on the city's police force, and Camille DuPree a daughter of one of the area's richest families, have been reunited against a background of tasty Cajun delights, courtesy of the her restaurant, Chez Camille. At a friend's suggestion that an evening of voodoo ceremonies would draw customers, the death of a patron during the rites threatens Camille's dreams of success. Jordan's efforts to protect her life as well as solve who is trying to destroy her hard work is hampered in a number of ways as the two of them struggle to fight their attraction of one another. Their efforts fail with the help of a voodoo charm that reveals the cause of the separation that stole six years of togetherness from them and love conquers almost all. But the mystery continues in the next installments, Liam – Book Two and Zachary, Book Three.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast-paced thriller with a tasty side dish of romance! 6 Jun. 2017
By Kathryn Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
What's a restaurant owner to do, when crime discourages patrons from visiting her place? Muggings in the area have cut into Camille DuPree's formerly successful French Quarter restaurant business. To attract clients, particularly tourists, and keep her standbys, she agrees to open the venue for Thursday night Voodoo ceremonies.. But she gets more than she bargained for when a patron is murdered in the middle of the proceedings.

Camille has no choice she has to prove she had nothing to do with the killing. She gets help from Jordan O'Reilly, a New Orleans cop moonlighting as a security guard at the restaurant. But things get personal; Jordan and Camille have a history. Each thinks the other broke off their former relationship. Now solving the murder may pay an unexpected dividend and bring them back together. But they must contend with evil voodoo charms and a police detective who would like to prove they're guilty of the murder. Even more pressing than proving Camille's innocence...can Jordan save Camille as the real villain closes in on her?

Rebecca York's fans will not be disappointed. A fast-paced thriller with a tasty side dish of romance!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good start of a trilogy 1 Jun. 2017
By N1kita - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Jordan is the first book of New Orleans Magic trilogy, a trilogy written by three different authors with their own characteristics: Rebecca York, Ann Voss Peterson, and Patricia Rosemoor (in that order, always). There are some trilogies written by these authors, and New Orleans Magic was my second trilogy from them (well, the third I have, but the second I read).

Honestly, I was quite disappointed with the book. Not the book really, more of the characters. The mystery was quite intriguing, clearly unsolved, and set up stage for the next book. The voodoo magic was a great touch. However, the main characters, Jordan and Camille, were so one-dimensional. I really couldn’t connect with them, I didn’t invest in them, basically I just couldn’t care about them. Their love story was so cheesy and immature, even six years later when they’re supposedly grew up. As this trilogy categorised as Paranormal-Romance-Suspense, the failing in Romance part was really disturbing my reading experience.

I hope the second book will be better.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher through NetGalley, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

2.0 out of 5 stars A slightly different rewrite of another of York's books. 7 Jun. 2017
By LP - Published on Amazon.com

Very much like one of her other books. I'm about 24% through this book and the premise is very much like York's Decorah #7 "At Risk". The names have been changed and a few of the minor details are different, but it is basically the same book. Very disappointed and may not finish it. Ms York took the easy, cheating way out on this one. Good thing she wrote the other book!
