The Jolly Postman must surely be one of the most innovative and interactive books for young children. Accompany the Jolly Postman on his rounds as he delivers post to classic children's characters, all of which happily live within his delivery round. Meet the Three Bears, Cinderella (now happily married to her Prince Charming), Goldilocks and many more. The real magic in this book lies in the inclusion of actual and highly personalised post for each character--each tucked into a neat envelope between the pages of the book. Enjoy Goldilocks' "Sorry" letter to the Three Bears, a Postcard to the Giant from Jack and, most amusing of all, the writ issued to the Big Bad Wolf (still occupying Grandma's cottage) by lawyers acting on behalf of both Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs.
The story is told in charming verse to compliment this very active and unusual storybook. The Jolly Postman is a treasure for children aged 2 to 6 years old. --Victoria MacKenzie
The Jolly Postman delivers cards and letters to various fairy-tale characters. He has a letter of apology for the three bears from Goldilocks, a postcard from Jack for the giant, a solicitor's letter on behalf of Little Red Riding-Hood for the wolf who ate grandma, and so on. There are six envelopes in the book, each containing letters, cards, etc.See all Product description

The children in my class have loved this book and have loved hearing the story over and over again. They are completely fascinated by the different envelopes and letters included. Used the characters from fairytales to create character profiles and talk about settings. So many fun, interactive literacy and numeracy activities have come out of this book!
Pupils found it easy to think of challenges linked to the story.
In this book you travel with the Jolly Postman to deliver his letters on Christmas Eve, letters include a jigsaw for Humpty Dumpty and a little book inside a book (Inside a book!) for the Gingerbread Man. My children adore the "peepshow" at the end. The pictures are absolutely charming and the verse is beautiful. A truly magical Christmas story and an absolute classic
Most of the letters contain activities for the children to do such as a game or jigsaw etc. Kids of all ages will enjoy this, discovering something new every time.
Perfect for everyone, highly recommended.
Okay so the book is interactive. Based on envelopes. The Author said they were watching their daughter playing with envelopes and got the idea from that.
The art work is wonderful. Perfect modern day fairy tale stuff. Nice candy colours and a story line that is easy to read but the wonder is the cards for Christmas interactive and that you can get a kid excited about for a bed time read.
Would I suggest this as a present? Good grief yes! I mean Stocking filler for Christmas just because of the title. Anyone should be over joyed to get this and if not... who cares you can read it yourself secretly and smile!
