Boiley is very good for making perfect boiled eggs in the microwave.
You need to follow the instructions, and experiment a bit with timings, but generally 4 minutes cook, 1 minute stand works for me (Our microwave is 850W)

However - a very important safety notice (And it *does* say this in the instructions!) - don't forget to make a hole in the top of the egg before you cook it, to allow the excess pressure to escape.

I forgot this morning in my not-very-awake state, and the whole thing exploded in the microwave.
Very very messy! (Microwave, Boiley and myself are all fine)

And then I burnt my toast too. In the words of Homer Simpson - "DOH!"

The product is great though. Just don't trust me to use it! :-)

I bought this for a friend of mine who is acutely blind to use in the microwave for easy egg cooking. It has a small reservoir at the bottom which fills with water and a pin-like device for piercing the egg. She had no problem using it and the times stated on the instructions are accurate (3 mins for soft, 5 for hard). Makes tasty eggs!

I was given a Boiley by my brother and I love it. In fact my husband uses it more than I do. It's quick and easy to use and you get a perfectly boiled egg without any fuss or washing up!

Of course its going to be hot! no one lifts an egg from the boiling water with their bare hands, so common sense should apply with using a microwave!

4 mins for the perfect runny yolk in my microwave and everyday I go to work on an egg. Life is grand!

Alas poor Boiley for he may hath boiled his last egg after many months of faithful service. I heard it fall over in the microwave and when I had a look, it's foot had melted. I was worried that the microwave oven had developed a fault stopping it from working on it's low settingBoiley' Microwave Egg Boiler from the 'Eggy' Range by Joie, but I did a test with a cup of water and the oven is working fine. So now my kitchen walls will stream with condensation again when I boil an egg in the winter.
Good bye old friend!.

Boiley is still working fine in Dec 2013 after sitting him in a plastic container that a microwavable pudding came in

This is wonderful. it does exactly what it says. It is cute to look at and practical to use. The eggs are boiled beautifully, whether I choose to have hard, or soft-boiled ones. Can't recommend it highly enough.

It's really good but tricky to judge timing initially. 5 mins should be your benchmark and then up or down by 30 second increments.

It's hot when it comes out of the microwave. Not sure why so many people are surprised by this but you need to let it sit for a minute or two anyway to let the egg finish cooking through. Little or no clean up required.

Buy a proper egg piercer and for salads and sandwiches one of those wire slicing things.

Serving suggestion: Boliey egg (5 min), leave to stand, turkey rashers (2.30 min ish), bun = perfect breakfast.

This was fine until the pin broke when pushing it through the egg shell. The pin sits in a little holder, but is not held in place sufficiently, so it just slid down through the holder and now isn't long enough to pierce the yoke. it splashes quite a bit inside the microwave, but apart from that, with a little trial and error on timings, does produce a great boiled egg. It lost a star for the broken pin.
