The man is a GTFC legend. Perhaps not the greatest author but interesting to hear about his life before, during and after Town.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Maccas career as I could relate to a lot of the stories he has written , some of the stories made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up especially the wembley wins & brought back good memories of a part of my life watching those finals.I have also since found out who one of the players were that was bent over the net naked in the blacked out tennis court.LOL.

I would describe this as a must have book and important read for all fans of Grimsby Town..

I found this to be a really good book from a true GTFC legend... Just wish there was a few more players like him now, sadly I feel the GTFC fans of today might never get to witness a player like this again and what it actually looks like to be totally committed to the course.

I'll keep my review short and sweet. It's a good read for GTFC fans, but i don't feel the book tells you anything you wouldn't already know about John McDermott and his career. I also felt it skimmed over a lot of parts (the teams of the late 80s/early 90s) and perhaps could have gone into greater detail on this. As i say, its a decent read, but one for GTFC fans only.

I spent my late teens and twenties watching John McDermott playing for Grimsby. A very enjoyable read but maybe one for the Mariners and footballing die-hards as opposed to general football fans.
A good insight into football in the second tier of football and below through the late eighties into the nineties and beyond - and how hard it was in those days to make a decent living from the game at that level.
