5.0 out of 5 stars Way underrated 10 Jun. 2013

great album shows the early vocal talent of Taz Digregorio, and the start of what would become The CDB. This often overlooked first album with the Charlie Daniels and Taz Digregorio team was the start of a great thing that would go on for 40 years until Taz would pass away in a car accident in 2011. The CDB continued after that and still tours to this day albeit without Taz
4.0 out of 5 stars EMBRYONIC CDB 17 July 2016
By R. Krieger - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This early CDB album is a bit more hillbilly than later Southern Rock CDB releases. It mixes simple, countrified lyrics with a mixture of Country, Blues and that 60s sound leftover from the prior decade. "Great Big Bunches Of Love", "In The City", "Drinkin' Wine Spodee Odee", "Black Autumn", "Tomorrow's Gonna' Be Another Day" and "I'll Try Again Tomorrow" catch this embryonic band sounding good and in some cases (Spodee Odee for example) just having fun. As the title suggests, this is a band effort, rather than a Daniels' solo project. Mainstay keyboardist Taz DiGregorio belts out some vocal leads and does some nice organ work. It's a very good album, but a bit different than the rest of Charlie's recorded legacy. I guess it's not a stretch to compare it with Fire On The Mountain. but that album found the band's sound a little more refined. The sound quality of Te John, Grease and Wolfman is fine, much like the original vinyl LP. I love It, maybe you will too.
5.0 out of 5 stars Charlie on his way up 17 Mar. 2015

I've never heard the songs on this cd before I was just familiar w/the title the songs were pretty good for an early album before Charlie's name became a household word. I'm sure diehard fans already have this recording in their collections for new fans take a listen to it you may like it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Effort 29 Oct. 2009
By W. Fred Evans - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This is Charlie Daniels at his lean and basic best. It's not a bad album to listen to, considering that his previous debut album took off barely. This is the album that got his career off to a small start. It would take 2 more releases before he hit the stratosphere. For the serious CDB fan.
