John Digweed's double-disc set in the Global Underground mix series showcases the British DJ's unique ability to seamlessly fuse trance and techno into a lush slipstream that works well, whatever the hour. Recorded in Sydney, Australia, in 1998, Digweed's mix envelops a multitude of dance styles and coats them all with his effortless, lengthy, pace-building method. Few DJs could move so smoothly from the sunrise tranquillity of Fortunato & Montresor's "Imagine" to the busyness of Danny Tenaglia's "Elements," let alone Fatma Morgana's "Apache Spur" to the franticness of Crystal Method's "Keep Hope Alive." Yet Digweed makes it all seem so natural, the warmth and mobility of the mix inviting listeners to stop whatever they're doing, shut up, and dance. --Steffan Chirazi

Digweed's done a few of these "guest starring XXX DJ" releases and this is the best, from just before the turn of the millennium when stuff was crazy and recorded live, rather than flung together on a PC by some nobody borrowing a DJs name who might have played things on some recent outing. This is from the days when Digweed had a knack for finding tracks that worked in sequence and could tell a story over the course of a couple of hours.....sadly nowadays he just pops stuff from his adopted Bedrock label together in no particular order for an audience that must be half asleep, or just so completely jaded that the indifference goes unremarked. Definitely a collectable, ranking alonside his Renaissance offerings.

Well what can i say.. I love Digweed and what he has done for the clubbing scene. He has to be one of the most respected DJs on the circuit. He puts everything into all his well thought out CD's, and appreciates the difference between a CD and a Club. This CD has stood the test of time and still has some Big Tunes that get your heart racing - but well over 10yrs old, its not one I put on anymore - its fast, dark and quite dirty, also a little too progressive for my liking (it is 2010 now) but for any diggers fan - well worth the purchase..

I would best describe this as a 'lively' album; full of trance & beats. If you like your music like that, you'll enjoy this album. A couple of the tracks are a fraction too long for their own good in my opinion but with 25 tracks, there's more than enough to keep you interested overall & it hasn't stopped me giving this 5 stars. The first disc begins with a couple of chill-outs and quickly gets up to speed which prepares you perfectly for no.2 which has got some real floor thumpers. I give this a strong thumbs up. Try it for yourself!
