Joel Meyerowitz

Joel Meyerowitz started making spontaneous color photographs on the streets of New York in 1962 with friends such as Tony Ray-Jones and Garry Winogrand. He has since become known as one of the most important street photographers of his generation. Instrumental in changing attitudes towards color photography in the 1970s, he is known as a pioneer, an important innovator, and a highly influential teacher.

If you're into street photography this is a great book to add to your collection. The examples are wonderful and the information Joel shares is very inspiring.

I like that some images are shown in close up of the salient element, then later on you see the entire photo in the original context. I found that very useful.

Some really cool shots to inspire you in your own street photography.

I'm a great fan of Joel Meyerowitz and this book's content does nothing to diminish that however the printing quality of the photographs leaves something to be desired and the book is only A5, I know Amazon clearly states the dimensions but who reads those!

Firstly, this book is crammed with Joel's amazing photographs and for that reason alone it is worth the asking price. Secondly, his advice on the process of taking photographs is eye opening. You won't find any instructions about what aperture or shutter speed to use, but you will learn what it means to take a photograph.
