Ok, my yellow and black Joby Gorillapod arrived this morning, smaller than i imagined. Originally i intended to use it with a small flashgun i bought, the Godox CF-18, sadly within 34hrs the godox flash died, i ordered a Yongnuo YV460-II to replace it. I do not intend to use it with any camera, my camera's are heavy and not suited to this small 'pod, this was bought just to hold my flashgun for off camera, strbist shooting.

Anyhow, this Gorillapod arrived today and right away i thought "i can never use that with my new flash, too weak!"

How wrong could i have been?

Ok, the pod may not support the weight fully in the upright position, but hang it from something and it stays put, doesn't slip and isn't giving me any worry that it might slip. So i fully intend to hang it from branches, railings, scaffolding, drainpipes, anything i can find.

This will be perfect for using outdoors with my flash doing strobist things, its ideal because it is so easy and quick to set up, once the thread is mounted and locked in place, there are no screws to use, no legs to extend, its simply a grippy thing that should really be punching above its weight, but incredibly the Gorillapod is much tougher than it looks, it is so versatile and i am glad i bought mine, specially in yellow =)

I have added a few images to showcase it's speedlight handling capabilities.

I have used it to hold my iphone in my car to film driving. It grips really well. You do have to position the legs carefully so it can perform a full grip instead of a hooking motion though. Otherwise, it just shakes. It's now sitting on my desk lamp like a little spider. I'm sure no other conventional tripod can do that.

Not only is this the perfect camera accessory, it also happens to be un-put-downable: an addictive office toy!
It's much lighter than I expected too, will come in handy for day trips, rugby games (Haven't tested that yet, but I can picture it attached to the railings/seat in front), camping, and trips abroad!

I bought this with my new camcorder as a little treat and I have had it about 1 and a half months. I am pleased to say it has become very helpful on holiday and just shooting action scenes.
I am absolutely delighted with this product and will soon be buying the magnetic version.

This is my second gorillapod, the first was damaged when I stepped on it a few months ago.

The Gorillapod is one of those really unusual but revolutionary ideas, once you have one you'll wonder how you managed without it. The legs bend in all sorts of directions and it will pretty much wrap around anything, from tree branches to fence posts, and the ability to independently position the legs means you can steady and straighten your camera no matter how uneven the surface.

One you own one of these you'll never go back to a normal tripod. Fantastic!

It may not look like much, but this is such a great tripod for your digi camera. I bought the larger SLR version for a gift at Christmas and treated myself to this one recently. Don't buy a cheap knock-off version, the Joby one is extremely well made and durable. It holds my digi camera in almost any position and feels really solid to use.
Highly recommend this, you won't be disappointed. The only thing I'd point out is that it's under 15cm, so I'd recommend a larger one for professional use, but this is perfect for holiday shots, and easy to fit in a bag on a night out!

This tripod is really handy, it wraps around almost anything as they say, and is very useful. It's also good as the camera locks in so if your camera is vertical you can be assured that it won't fall off and smash your camera to pieces. The balls (if that's the correct word) have great grip, so if you wrap the tripod around smooth, round objects it doesn't slip.

One small downpoint is that it could be a bit bigger, but for most peoples applications it should work perfectly.

Overall, extremely useful and a good bit of kit.

Very light - easy to carry - I clamp mine round my rucksack strap so that it's always to hand.

Mine is green and black - too camouflaged - so easy to leave behind in bushes or grass - next time i'd buy yellow

All expense spared
