I write books about people, both science fiction and fantasy, either in my space opera world of Abendau, or on the streets of Belfast. An Amazon bestseller in Space Opera and Alien Invasion, a brief moment of knocking Star Wars off the number one spot was a high point of excitement in my writing life.
Abendau Trilogy: a dark space opera, exploring the personal cost of being a SF hero. Think Dynasty in Space. Without the Shoulder Pads. And a hell of a lot darker.
Inish Carraig: cult hit, Inish Carraig, is set in the aftermath of an alien invasion, on the streets of Belfast, where the locals are not one bit happy. Following John Dray, set up by a local hit man for a crime he didn't mean to commit (so A-team!), and Henry Carter, the policeman trying to help him, Inish Carraig is a fast-paced thriller. There are rumours of a sequel.
Waters and the Wild presents a woman who is either hearing the voices of the fairies who may have stolen her as a child, or someone with a mental illness. Either way, the voices send Amy on a fairy-fuelled roadtrip through the Antrim Glens, the essence of fairyland. Like nothing you will have read before, Waters and the Wild is part fantasy, part mystery, and partly an exploration of mental health and how it impacts on the wider family.
