If you like Taarab you'll certainly enjoy this! It differs in many ways from its Zanzibar cousin; these performers are professional musicians, unlike the players from Zanzibar's music clubs, and there is a feel to the instrumentation reminiscent of Indian popular music from the 20th century. Nevertheless, the rhythms are very African and the Swahili lyrics address the same issues as those of the Zanzibar clubs. Anyone interested in this music or the culture of coastal East Africa should hear this!
