Top critical review
Nice selection of originals and covers
3 May 2018
Poor camera work and editing ruined what would have been a great release from the reclusive genius that is Jim Lea.
He is clearly enjoying himself in this one-off gig, and the crowd love the return of their local hero.
Great selection of songs from Slade and some famous covers.
Whilst the intentions of a DVD release are good, the price for this is a tad steep for the actual footage that looks like its been filmed on a camera phone at times.
The sound is so-so, anyone who's been to the Robin in Bilston will testify it can sound like a cowshed at times. An annoying factor is the moron who continually shouts "woah, woaha whoa wha" (intro to Slades 'We'll Bring The House Down') this could have been phased out when mixing the finished article.
Overall, its a great show, albeit, a one-off, but I'd LOVED to have seen Dave or Don tip up for a number, however, I suppose the crowd would have gone bonkers!
I'd play it again one day, but once or twice is enough for this DVD
