"Once again, Deepak Chopra combines spirituality with dramatic narrative to breathe new life into a story that we all assumed we knew. This unique and intriguing story inspires as well as educates. Chopra's JESUS is every bit as compelling as his groundbreaking retelling of BUDDHA."--Tim Kring, creator of Heroes & Crossing Jordan

"It is such an original and intriguing approach to imagine which Jesus was 'left out of the bible.' Chopra's novel is a fascinating read."--Petru Popescu, author of the forthcoming GIRL MARY

"If you think all that could be said about Jesus has already been said, then this book will be an eye opener in the best and truest sense of those words. Do a major favor to your soul and read it."--Miceal Ledwith, L.Ph., L.D., D.D., LL.D, former member of the Vatican's International Theological Commission and co-author of THE ORB PROJECT

"In Jesus: A Story of Enlightenment, Deepak Chopra dares us to ponder paradigms imbedded deep within our very DNA and question unquestionable truths. Chopra introduces a breathtaking epistemology that is altogether fresh and divine. His powerful revelation threatens our ability to live our lives in darkness."--Cheryl Woodcock, Correspondent & Producer, Entertainment Tonight & The Insider

"A la the Da Vinci Code, this thought-provoking tale is sure to ignite exciting questions and controversy."--Jill Gregory, co-author of the international bestseller THE BOOK OF NAMES and the forthcoming thriller THE ILLUMINATION

From the Back Cover

The New York Times bestselling author of Buddha captures the extraordinary life of Jesus in this surprising, soul-stirring, and page-turning novel. Uncovering the transformational "lost years" that are not recounted in the New Testament, Deepak Chopra has imagined Jesus's path to enlightenment moving from obscurity to revolutionary, from doubt to miracles, and then beyond as the role of the long-awaited Messiah. With his characteristic ability for imparting profound spiritual insights through the power of storytelling, Deepak Chopra's Jesus portrays the life of Christ as never before, ultimately leading us closer to understanding the nature of God and the soul.

I discovered Deepak a few months back. He has wowed me with his understanding of spirituality and his ideas. "The Third Jesus" is a fantastic book. In both that book and this Deepak explores the man of Jesus.

He is seemingly well informed in his understanding of the environment that quite probably surrounded Jesus, the culture and the religious and political climate.

Jesus: A story of enlightenment is great. I was very drawn into the book. Deepak presents the kind of Jesus I could believe existed and presents what I can see as a likely and touching argument for who this man actually was. He tells the story of the Jesus who could have been in the missing years of the New Testement translations.

He tells the story of a charismatic, passionate and warm hearted Jesus, very human and like us all conflicted as he comes to challenge the religious ideas he is familiar with and deepen his understanding of the God of all.

I am reading Mark having just read Jesus and it has made me much more comfortable with the text, seeing new meanings in the text. I now see and touch a Jesus I can believe in, one who knew the great secret, that we are all God and when we know this we are free.

Deepak writes an intelligent and compelling narrative for those interested in Jesus and I look forward to reading the sister books, Buddah and Muhammed in my quest to see the unified divine truth that these men came to understand in their lifetimes. Buy, enjoy and prepare to see the Jesus we can believe in, a Jesus who felt sexual passion and affection, who suffered doubt in faith and who never gave up seeking a truth that opens the heart to the richness of the world around.

I was unsure what this might be like, but I was entralled. I couldn't put this down and I believe adds real insight as to how Jesus grew within himself and his conciousness developed. Well worth it.

Deepak Chopra has reinvigorated the story of Jesus in this book and tells it from the perspective of one who I think really understands what Jesus was actually trying to teach us all with regards to enlightenment.

This is a dramatisation of the story of Jesus that's missing from the New Testament, which tells us nothing of his life between the ages of 12 and 30. The author shows considerable skill in constructing an intriguing narrative in which we can see the origins of many events from the later life of the man who became a messiah.

It is also an insight into the enlightened Jesus who is missing from the traditional Christian view of a divine figure different from the rest of us. As with the outstanding `Buddha', the particular value for me lies in Chopra's commentary at the end of the book where he reappraises the role of Jesus and the way his teaching has been interpreted, raising some provocative questions for Christians and offering some intriguing responses.

The last few pages present a valuable reinterpretation of the value of meditation or contemplation, and how it can lead to transcendence, the practical key to spiritual progress.

Now I'm really looking forward to `Muhammad' to complete the picture.

I enjoyed this book, but Chopra seems to take a lot of leeway in telling a story that could be "fantasy". I don't want to be critical, but how does Chopra know that what he says is true? There really is no history of Jesus outside of the New Testament. There's quite a big gap of time missing in the New Testament for Jesus between the ages of 12 and 33. That's approximately 21 years. Yes Jesus had to have been somewhere, but Chopra describes events and stories that are not documented anywhere. I'm not saying Chopra's wrong. I'm just saying that there isn't any proof to what he says. There's no documentation. OK. Maybe Chopra "channeled" this information, but maybe he just fantasized it. Don't get me wrong. I like Chopra's version of Jesus, but Chopra could be writing fiction without intentionally writing fiction. Not on purpose. But fiction nonetheless. I liked his book anyway. Just keep in mind that it might or might not be true. If you read the book with this in mind, I think you'll enjoy the book.
