Both "The Apostles: The Origin of the Church and Their Co-Workers" and "Jesus, The Apostles and the Early Church" contain the same text, namely Benedict XVI's teaching at his General Audiences from March 2006 to February 2007 on the Apostles and the Early Church. Do not follow Amazon's recommendation to buy both as they have the same text in spite of different titles.

Another great book from Pope benedict XV1. Anything written by Pope Emeritus Benedict is well and truly worth reading because he has this great gift of making difficult topics understandable by the layperson, without being patronising

Used this for a Lenten read and so each day found something new to mediate upon. Like the talks themselves that Emeritus Pope Benedict gave, this needs to be read slow;y over a period of time otherwise it will be indigestible. But if you chew it slowly it brings rewards.

This short book brings the figures of the apostles to life, looking at the human dimension as well as their crucial role in the early Christian movement. The exposition is clear and can be read by anyone, including young people. It would be an excellent teaching tool for teachers of religion.
