I found the book very disappointing,it was very poorly written,it focused on the affair with her now ex boyfriend and not on her life spent with her family apart from the fact she was a handful at school, the time spent in Eastenders was hardly mentioned and it gave no insite about her time spent there. This is a very poor autobiography, the writer must be laughing all the way to the bank at getting this book published.I like Jessie but I,m afraid there was absolutely no story to tell and will go as far as to say the book cover is not the inside story of Jessie Wallace but a well edited con encouraging people to buy it.

A friend of mine who is an avid fan of the actress Jessie Wallace and her 'EastEnders' character Kat recently passed this book onto me, claiming that she didn't enjoy it all. When I saw who the author was, I wasn't surprised. I had already read Emily Herbert's so-called biographies on Michael Jackson and Robin Williams, and so knew what to expect. To be fair, I made sure I did read it before reviewing, but it was just another poorly written cash in.

Fair play to Emily Herbert though, she has a fairly easy job whilst writing her skimpy paperbacks, trawling the internet for articles, or reading the glossies (either way, her sources aren't stated in a bibliography), and putting them all together. Had she actually gone through the trouble of conducting her own interviews with people directly involved with her subject, then I would have had more respect for her, but she doesn't. Her books are like reading a badly edited magazine, with lots of frothy of gossip on a star name, but no real insights into them, and certainly never providing anything even close to an 'inside story'.

Jessie Wallace is a good actress, she really shone as the late soap star Pat Phoenix in the BBC's superb production 'The Road to Coronation Street', and appears to be an interesting, feisty woman in real life. Alas, this badly written, quickly cobbled together book is far from a good overview of her personal and professional life. Chapters include 'Kitty Kat', 'The Square Gets Slatered', 'Letting the Cat Out the Bag', 'Man Hunt' and, well, you get the idea.

I am rating this one a generous two stars, as there are some points of interest towards the start, including a few first-hand quotes about her childhood and the information on how she got into the acting world, but my advice is to generally avoid this trashy little book, unless you're desperate to have some kind of publication on Jessie Wallace.
