The first season ended on a cliffhanger, with the town defending itself against an attack from another town who wanted it's resources. but unbeknown to all the combatants, help was on the way.
the show was then cancelled as the network that broadcast it adjudged the ratings too low to warrant it's return. but this inspired it's fans to act. And a campaign to get them to relent paid dividends. Thus jericho gained a second season, although this one was a mere seven episodes.
if you haven't seen the first season you may wonder how a show can inspire such devotion. and the answer is simple. good storytelling. both in the stories of some highly appealing characters, and in the gradual reveal of the truth about the attacks. and some pretty exciting action at times as well.
Now, the second season does try to bring in new viewers, and there is enough information at the start of the first episode to get you up to speed if you haven't seen it before. Having seen the first season I can't say how possible it will be for you to get into the show at this point. so you may prefer to start with season one.
so, for the fans: the seven episodes of season two are all here, spread over two discs.Read more ›
Season 1 was fantastic, Season 2 is just as good. The only downside for me is that when watching season 2, you know you only have a few more episodes left before the end....and you DONT want that to happen!
If you are sat reading this review, thinking "all these people are crazy, they seriously went to the effort of taking on CBS to get a second series of a TV show?" all I can say, is buy the first series, watch it, then at the end of the first series try to imagine that being it, no more, nothing, zilch - I can almost garentee you will be aching for more. Even with the show now over, EVERYONE wants a third series (although personally I dont think they will make one), all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
Possibly the best TV show to come out of the US in the last decade. Utterly brilliant!
This 2nd season runs for only a third of the length of season 1 but at least there is some closure with 2 endings available to watch on the dvd set.
The pace of the story is faster as you would expect with much crammed into the 7 episodes(there are also bonus features on disc 2 including details of the online battle by the fans to pressurize the tv producers).
I sigh with relief as there was some satisfaction watching this final season but who knows there may (one day) be a further series:there is a book Jericho Season 3 TP which I have not researched yet.
The events pick up after the end or series one, obviously, but after the battle has ended, so we do not get to see the war between jericho and new bern in its entirity.
The focus tends to be on Rob Hawkins side of things, so its more conspiracy
To give you a lowdown, America has had some of it's major cities nuked and the story is about one town in an uneffected area coping with low supplies and being cut off from the world.
There's more to it than that lol but I don't want to spoil it.
The first season ended on a cliffhanger, and when it was said that the show had been canned it was really upsetting. This has great casting, a great setting and brilliantly written.
I was really happy to see that this second season came out. It at least wraps it all up from the first season and gives you an ending that ends it and one that could carry it on.
This is only 7 episodes long, but what a 7 they are.
Some of the character's are absent but not many, I think thats probably to do with the "will it won't it" continue or not.
If you have seen the first you must own this one, if you have seen neither grab both it's a really good show, and a disappointment that it might not continue.
