JAMBOX delivers stunning hi-fi audio in a portable wireless speaker so compact you won't believe it when you hear it. It's loud. With an output capacity of 85 decibels, JAMBOX fills even the largest rooms. Unlike other portable speakers, JAMBOX is powered by a pair of proprietary, highly sophisticated acoustic drivers, unmatched in their ability to produce extreme high (tweeter) and low (woofer) frequencies from a single, ultra-small dome speaker. They work in concert with an innovative moving-wall passive bass radiator and airtight enclosure to deliver shimmering highs and thumping lows that you can literally feel - the richest sound all in the palm of your hand.

I was looking for a single 'box' speaker that was unobtrusive, and I could move from kitchen table to bathroom, patio etc.
I spent some time looking (and trying) Tivoli Pal, Tivoli Model One, lower end iPod docks and even a PicoIR internet radio.
But all I wanted was a *speaker* - I have radio etc via my iPhone - the sound was lovely (esp. Tivoli), but I felt like I was paying for a feature I don't need.
And then I remembered this Jambox device; I'd written it off as gimmicky when it was released. Shows what i know, huh? :)
This has the same audio performance as a Tivoli, I reckon- a nice, warm sound, which definitely benefits from decent quality AAC/source files - you notice the difference with iPlayer's 'HD' and 320k iTunes material.
The audio is noticeably 'box bound' (depending on the track), but as it's the size of *two Wii remotes* - it's an amazing audio performance for it's size.
If this was simply a mains-powered, smallish speaker, with audio-in, as I thought I wanted, I'd be really happy.
But of course, this also has a 10hr battery and bluetooth connectivity (and a headphone-in if you need it), so I can carry it from room to room, with my iPhone (or Mac) left behind (30 feet range - I've not reached that limit yet).
I didn't think I needed this sort of portability, but it's absolutely brilliant - you really do find yourself using it whilst cooking, showering, etc.Read more ›
However, it is not all great:
1) The price, I think 100GBP would be better aligned with the the product
2) If you have it on full volume on a smooth surface, it bounces around on the base and yesterday it bounced off the sink unit of my hotel room onto a hard floor, ouch! Luckily it is still ok, but I have learnt to place it on a small towel, or something similar to stop it moving
It is solidly built. The casing is rigid and the rubber (?) slabs on top and bottom of the unit and the aluminium grille give a quality feel to the unit.
Pairing with other devices is easy and I have no problems with interference from any source.
Sound? This is a very small speaker and, make no mistake, it will not fill anything but the smallest bathroom. In fact, that's just what I bought it for: my bathroom. For that, it's ideal. It runs for days on it's internal battery and, placed on the window shelf in a recess delivers beautiful, neutral music and voice from my wireless network (I use it to stream Internet radio from the BBC iPlayer mainly and it sounds great here) but place it in the lounge and the sound is simply lost. There is no appreciable bass and the sound is just too "lightweight".
I will continue to very much enjoy this speaker in my very small bathroom, but caution anyone who believes the Jambox hype that this unit is capable of filling a room with any sort of useable sound.
A good speaker, no doubt, but stupidly over-priced. If it was £100 that would be justified.
I've been using my Jambox daily for nearly six months and whilst I was initially very disappointed with the quality of sound it produces (especially given the very high cost of the unit) and still stand by my original comments I have been using it wired for the last couple of months ie: connecting to my iPhone via the supplied headphone lead. This makes a massive difference to the quality of the sound it produces: much richer and more powerful with a really nice bass response.Read more ›
The sound quality is excellent. Its not going to fill a party room but its as close as you'll get at this size. The sound is crisp and you get bass as well - its the first mini speaker I've been happy to listen to rock music on.
You also get MyTalk - a service on the Jawbone website that lets you download firmware updates to the speaker and add new features like changing the voice and installing apps like voice dialling etc, all of this is free.
You can also connect multiple devices to it simultaneously, so for example you could be streaming music from a laptop or tablet, and have your phone connected for answering phone calls.
It is really really easy to use, with only 3 buttons and one on/off/pair switch. You can use this pretty much out of the box without even looking at the manual.
The battery life is excellent, I've not managed to run it out yet and used it all holiday with just one small top up. It also charges really quickly (2.5hrs for a full charge).
In the box they haven't skimped either - you get TWO USB cables - one for use with the mains charger and a spare, and you get a really nice fabric case with magnetic clips to hold the speaker.Read more ›

Surprisingly punchy sound. Smart looking. And weeny in size.
Outside packaging was damaged at one corner but actual plastic box housing the speaker was also damaged inside (no connection to packaging). Read morePublished 9 months ago by Amazon Customer
Bought one while travelling in America. Faulty, making horrible noises, so loud while I was trying to sort it that someone banged on the wall of my hotel room. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Mr. A. Mackay
Absolutely terrible. In the description, the seller used measurements from the larger jawbone speakers! This led me to believe that it was the larger one! Read morePublished 15 months ago by Katie
