I bought this after listening to the author on Dessert Island Discs. The only problem I am finding is putting it down. The stories of forced marrage and the effect of young girls behaviour on the family honour are incredible. Jas went through an awful experience herself as detailed in the the book 'Shame' but the other books tell of her turning that into a positive to help other young Asians (it happens to men too!) that are going through similar experiences.

Read this, you will be amazed at what people can cope with.

This book was so moving, I couldn't put it down. Absolutely breath taking. I would recommend everyone to read this book. Thank you Jasvinder for being courageous enough to share your story and most of all well done for finding out your true purpose and following it. You are a inspiration for many out here in the world. Love and Gratitude x

Powerful reading that gives, good insight on the extensive problems faced within different cultures. It highlights problems within our diverse society, that need to be challenged by professionals who become involved with such issues. It also reinforces the need for education on the subject, so that we are able to offer the necessary support, and achieve better outcomes for families involved.

I thought this a most enlightening book but it also raised a lot of concerns about attitudes of police and social services towards the problems of Asian young women, and men. Jasvinder Sanghera is to be congratulated on her courage and tenacity.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in human rights and the right of people to choose their own way in life.
The book is well written and strikes a chord as it is so personal. I felt the third book became a little repetitive but not so much to put me off reading to the end.
