Jason Anderson is author of five books for teachers of English as a Foreign Language; Trinity CertTESOL Companion, Teaching English in Africa, Role Plays for Today, Speaking Games and Teamwork. In 2016 Teaching English in Africa won the British Council ELTON award for Local Innovation, and two of his other titles have been shortlisted for awards.
Jason has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, educational consultant and writer for over 20 years in over 15 countries worldwide for organisations including UNICEF, the British Council, Hydea Consulting, VSO and International House. In Europe, Africa and Asia he has worked on the development of national curricula, in-service teacher training courses, and pre-service teacher training courses in both primary and ELT sectors.
Jason is a regular contributor of articles to leading journals for language teachers, including ELT Journal, English Teaching Professional, Modern English Teacher and ELT Education and Development, and is a regular public speaker at conferences including IATEFL, English UK and British Council events.
Jason has strong interests in teaching methodology, second language acquisition, the role of games and play, and is also interested in the effective use of the mother tongue, translanguaging and translation in language learning. In his free time he is a keen birdwatcher and is a published amateur ornithologist.
