Jane Greenoff is very well known and respected in the field of cross-stitch and embroidery design. Before she teamed up with Ian Lawson-Smith to produce this package, she had developed free-hand designs on graph paper, with all the consequent mess and crossings out. She freely admits that computer charts have transformed her life. Absolutely everything that is necessary for creating cross-stitch designs is included, and the instructions are straightforward, comprehensive and easy to follow. It is more than advisable to print these off for easy reference.
If are you are computer illiterate or greatly experienced, this is the program for you. You can choose between preferences and tools, use a vast colour collection, receive directions around the screen, learn about using a template to design a simple sampler, work with motifs and engage in many other design activities. Jane also offers lots of tips, all designed to aid understanding and use of the great variety of functions. Particularly helpful is the feature that underlines certain phrases. By clicking on them with the mouse, you will be taken straight to the information you require.
The program is extremely simple to load, and the opportunities within are endless. There are shape cards from different leading manufacturers, more than 100 templates for cards and samplers, over 70 video clips to "show you how" and step-by-step tutorials to illustrate relatively unknown stitches (eg, the Holbein stitch and Velvet stitch). The program also shows you how to use charms, buttons and textures. There are more than 4,800 fabulous motifs, and there is a printable help file. Jane Greenoff believes this is "my definitive guide to stitching", and this reviewer agrees. --Susan Naylor

I would imagine it could be quite fiddly to use if you weren't experienced with a mouse, but if you've got basic computer skills it's great fun - I now spend so much time designing projects that it's actually quite a shame to have to stitch them!
However i have persevered and fiddled about and worked it out for myself, and managed to creat my first picture of my dog, saved it came back a few hours later and there was my design looking the same as it did when i first started, yes i know what your all thinking i didnt save it( oh how wrong you are) this software has had no thought put into it and if you a complete novice or even an expert DONT BUY IT find another avoid this at all costs
