Jane Greenoff\'s Cross Stitch Designer
With help from the latest computer multimedia, my program will not only guide you through the basics of cross stitch but will also help you to create gorgeous designs to get you stitching today!
Create your own cross stitch patterns with ease by placing colour blocks, or black and white symbols on the grid to represent your stitches or import your own photographs, favourite paintings, drawings or clip art images. Then convert them into scrumptious cross stitch designs, with colours matched to your favourite stranded cotton or wool shade range to give you many hours of stitching pleasure.
Containing over 1,500 of my very own motifs, borders and charts this irresistible collection will inspire you to create practical ideas for your home. Combine motifs to produce samplers for all the rooms in the house or use the smaller designs for mini projects like birthday, anniversary or thank you cards.
Or why not learn lots and lots of lovely things in the tutorial section by following my step-by-step instructions. Over 20 videos will teach you about fabrics and how to select them, how to do a loop start, ¾ stitch or tent stitch, how to scan in an image, and much, much more. Plus the tutorials include plenty of my handy tips to help make things easier when you are stitching.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cross stitch designer program.
I find it best to be generous with the number of colours you request as you usually end up with a lot less (e.g. about 35 if you ask for 50). I also find it helpful to print the key with coloured symbols and both coloured and black-and-white versions of the pattern in a fairly large size.
I have been able to produce my own designs using it but many of the features are very awkward to use. For example, it is extremely difficult to remove backstitch once added to your design and the 'undo' function will only remove the very last addition to the design.
I found Jane Greenoff's tutorials fairly patronising and irritating because of use of phrases such as "cross stitch is addictive - housework will go undone and children will get their tea late." Maybe she did not have people like me in mind.
I am now going to invest in a more sophisticated cross stitch design programme as this budget version didn't really work out for me.
Once I'd cracked it, I couldn't print my chart out. I gave up, sent it back.
There must be an easier way, so disppointed. :-(

This is a very old programme and is not very user friendy at all, I would use paper and pencil, it is much quicker.Published 3 months ago by mhp
fantastic for smaller/medium sized pattern cross stitch conversions but only has capacity for 99 thread colours so a little restricting for the larger sizes which I like to do. Read morePublished 3 months ago by agwd
