Overall this is a great product. It is wonderfully easy to use and offers a great selection of thread manufacturers so that you can plan your designs to include your favourite thread range. One downside, however is that you are unable to personalise your pallette of colours to your favourites, and so I often need to reselect colours whenever i start a new design. Other great features include the handy video tutorials with sound - these are brilliant for beginners and offer many handy tips! Designs can be viewed as b/w symbols, colour blocks or colour stitches on a wide selection of aida colours, although options for other fabrics are not available.

This is a great little piece of kit for the money. It's relatively easy to use (although the lack of written instructions make it a bit daunting to start with), and allows you to create wonderful designs. I've been particularly pleased with its ability to convert pictures, but be warned they can be quite big. I would advise that you buy a shade card as well, from one of the main silk manufactures like DMC, as it allows you check the shade the computer is suggesting against the real thing.

This is a fantastic product. I imagined something extremely basic for the price, so was amazed at the different features available. It is extremely easy to import photo files of various types - within seconds you see them as cross stich patterns, which you can edit (i.e. delete out confusing shadows or undesirable lines). It's also nice starting from scratch with your own pattern. Adding block after block in 99 different colours is a great way to doodle a pattern, and is very addictive.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cross stitch designer program.

I like this product (Jane Greenoff's Cross Stitch Designer) as it is only one I know of that allows you to produce a cross-stitch pattern from a photo. You have to look in help to find how to do this (the tutorials are on stitch-craft), but the wizard is fairly straightforward.

I find it best to be generous with the number of colours you request as you usually end up with a lot less (e.g. about 35 if you ask for 50). I also find it helpful to print the key with coloured symbols and both coloured and black-and-white versions of the pattern in a fairly large size.

Arrived in new condition, but programme would not import either bitmap or J Peg images, clipboard function was also disabled and could not get it to work. Took 4 attempts to contact 'help' but were most helpful even though advice still did not make it work. Would not recommend.

Bought this for my wife who is a crafter and thinks it is brilliant. It will now allow her to make a cross stitch chart of anything that can be photographed and scanned in to the computer.

I was attracted to this item by the price. It is fairly basic and takes some getting used to. The program is easy to load onto your PC. However, it does not contain any instructions on creating your designs so you just have to work out how to use it for yourself.

I have been able to produce my own designs using it but many of the features are very awkward to use. For example, it is extremely difficult to remove backstitch once added to your design and the 'undo' function will only remove the very last addition to the design.

I found Jane Greenoff's tutorials fairly patronising and irritating because of use of phrases such as "cross stitch is addictive - housework will go undone and children will get their tea late." Maybe she did not have people like me in mind.

I am now going to invest in a more sophisticated cross stitch design programme as this budget version didn't really work out for me.

I found this hard to use as there aren't any written instructions and you have to spend time clicking into everything to understand what it does.
Once I'd cracked it, I couldn't print my chart out. I gave up, sent it back.
There must be an easier way, so disppointed. :-(
