Beautifully illustrated with colour photos, this book takes you through the basics of preserving with introductory sections on equipment and techniques such as 'testing for a set'. The book is divided into sections according to type of produce (i.e. stone fruits like plums and summer perries), and each of these has a full colour spread with notes on successfully preserving each member of the category. In addition, as well as fruity jams and an array of chutney recipes, there are also details on how to make berry and herb vinegars. I've already used this book several times, making blackcurrant and jumbleberry jam (the latter is delicious and a great way to use up odd amounts of berries) and raspberry vinegar. I will definitely be keeping this book in a safe place and expect that it will become an old faithful over the years. Well worth the money, this book is perfect for beginners or for the more experienced looking for some interesting new preserves to try.
