The plastic is in two parts for a little flexibility, but it won't suit everyone as larger hands will find it difficult to fit into. If it doesn't fit snugly, it's clumsy and unwieldy to use.
It does keep your fingers away, but simple using a better knife technique of pulling your fingers back and cutting away from the knuckle (rather than holding the object to be cut with your fingertips) has the same effect.
I'd recommend this for anyone with shaky hands or someone new to using sharp knives, but only if they have medium sized hands. Fat fingers will just break the rubber rings unfortunately.
This guard is particularly useful for trainee chefs who have extremely sharp knives to deal with, the kind that would remove a finger if you slip (e.g. Global or similar).
Worth the £2.50, but it's not a must have.
I ordered it following another incident where i over-zealously tried to remove one of my fingers with a sebatier knife, but if anything, this just makes the process more dangerous. It appears to have been designed and produced as a concept without checking to see if it's the same shape as a human's fingers. it's so awkward you will give up after 30 secs and accept you just need to chop things slower.
I ignored the reviews on here that said this - don't do the same!
It is simple, easy to use and really protects the fingers so is a great safety gadget.
I recently bought another for my sister-in-law after she saw mine - she is also accident prone!
A clever little gadget, I keep it by my knife rack so I don't forget to use it.
Would recommend and think the price is fair, especially considering the saving in plasters!!
Was a bit worried about using the knives, hence i bought the shield.
but i've only used it once. It was good if you can be bothered to use it, so i don't really feel justified it being able to give an honest
review - hence i've only given it a 3 star as i haven't really used it.
I found when i tried it out it was a little more bendy than i hoped and my fingers are not big. I am not sure big fingers would fit well and it was hard to know exactly what the best position for the guard was, i did feel i had to watch my fingers were not sticking out around the guard as in some ways you have to watch you don't find chopping more difficult and you need to extra watch your fingers as the guard hides the position somewhat(maybe clear plastic would be better). I gave it a star for the idea, star for the price, and star for the fact I could fit my fingers in and it worked, but not sure I liked it or felt confident it was helping. Its back in the drawer pretty quick.

Too be honest it was a waste of money, the loops are too big and I found I was more at risk of chopping myself while trying to keep the thing in place.Published 12 months ago by Lady Daxy
Bought it for my young daughters who like cooking, saved their fingers when chopping vegPublished 14 months ago by paulw
ok, but one of the rubber finger holder was a bit flimsy and snappedPublished 20 months ago by Sweet Pea
this does very little, if anything, to stop you cutting yourself. It's main value is that when you use it, you're aware to take more care!!!Published 23 months ago by Stan
