Taking inspiration from films like 500 Days of Summer, And Then Came Lola and Kissing Jessica Stein, Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together is the perfect anti-date movie, with songs! From the director of cult hit Hannah Free, join Jamie and Jessie for a ride filled with laughs. Jamie is moving from Chicago to New York in two weeks, hoping to become a Broadway actress. Her best friend Jessica is bummed, because she thinks she is in love with Jamie, so as moving day gets closer, she tries to make Jamie jealous by dating other women, with hilarious results.
It's a shame, because a quirky indie lesbian film is sorely needed! Unfortunately this film just isn't that. The writing, acting and singing are not great throughout, and with the best will in the world I could not finish it. I'm sad because I so wanted to like it, and spent most of time willing it to get better. One day we'll get our nice quirky film, for the time being it's best to stick with Imagine Me and You, and Blue is the Warmest Colour.
I saw this in a theater in Germany and the audience loved it. So did I. It's well done and original and honest. It's set in Chicago and has some American references that maybe some viewers don't get? But the two "strange men" are awesome as a gay Greek chorus throughout the story, overseeing the love affairs and troubles. The women are all very sexy with a diverse range of "looks". This movie has very good acting, it made me laugh out loud, and I felt hopeful when it was over!
I chose this rating as it was fun in places and had a good cast however it lacked interest as i got bored half way through and then to me, the ending was very poor indeed. It was not worth the time to be honest..
Absolutely awful....my girlfriend and I sat through 45 mins of terrible acting, singing and dialogue after which time we were so fed up that we gave up! Even if you get past the awful singing and songwriting, the lack of decent writing and direction can't be ignored. Don't bother watching unless you want to totally waste a couple of hours.
