Our receipe combines the rich meat goodness of duck with wholesome brown rice and energy-packed oats. Unlike some other brands, we take care to avoid the ingredients known to cause many food allergies. It contains no cheap bulking ingredients, nor any artificial appetite enhancers. This means Duck & Rice Kibble is ideal for dogs with delicate digestions, skin irritations and food intolerances. Ok, it is nutritionally balanced for a young growing dog, is easily digestible, and has nice small puppy sized pieces. This is what we expect from a dog food, but what about performance?
It's the first puppy food we tried him on that did not cause the puppy-trots and if anything it dried him up a little. He enjoys it, and if you want to add a little pizazz to the meal, add a little hot water first to the dry food, allow it to soak in and cool then serve - it has a scent that the dogs love, which is released on warming. This means that puppy is far less likely to get bored with it.
When pupy was younger we moistened it a lot, yet it still retained its integrity and did not turn to slop like so many supermarket brands do, and as he grew larger, we moistened it less, giving his newly developing teeth something to crunch on and enjoy.
All in all a good brand, and one that puppy still likes - best of all it has a variety of flavours!
It tastes OK according to my husband (he had to try it, obviously).
She loved it at first, but then somehow the Pandora's Box of wet cat food was opened and she was never the same again.
Overnight, she went from wolfing this stuff down to looking quizzically at us when we placed it before her.
We'd been talking about the raw food diet, and we moved swiftly onto that.
I'd highly recommend this - raw chicken, beef and lamb, delivered minced in dog-meal-sized containers.
The main benefit (for us) is that her messages are neither so frequent nor so noxious nor so copious as they were while James Wellbeloved was in the chair.
The benefit for her is that she grows more evenly (this dry food seems to promote growth spurts).
We keep a bag of James around for treat purposes.
Therefore, my dogs are fed on dry food.
I got a new puppy, and thought I would try this food to see if he liked it, and he did, at once.
You place the kibble in the bowl and (IMPORTANTLY) soak it in water till it is soft - I use warm water as it seems to soak in that much faster. Then you give to the puppy and watch him empty the bowl!
The reason for soaking is so that the kibble does not swell in puppy's stomach, as this can cause all manner of problems. Presoak and there is no swelling , puppy will stop eating as and when he is full.
The food itself loks fine enough, although I confess to NOT actually having tried it myself, and it has a reasonably pleasant scent when warm water is added to it.
Furthermore, at the other 'business' end, the smell is not that bad, I have smelled far worse, and for this alone, the dog food is worth it.
Good value for the pack and if you want to continue feeding with the same brand name, then there are a variety of flavours.
Smells good too !
