I would recommend this book to everyone, even non Dean fans.

In acting class, we studied one of his movies. I have a giant print of him with an infactuation that some have of Marilyn Monroe.
After watching the movie “Life,” I purchased this. I expected photos only, but was pleased with the sparse bits of information about James Dean and some about Dennis. It put the photos into perspective.
When it came to the photos of James in a coffin, I had to close it and take a break. He’s been gone a long time and would probably be dead by now had he not gotten into an accident, but there’s something about the journey of his personal story through photographs being interrupted with a visual foreshadowing of tragedy. I know it but don’t want to see it.
The only negative comment is that some of the narrative repeats. So on one page you’ll read something and it repeats on another in a different paragraph, but it’s the same words. That’s confused me a bit.
Now I’m re-watching the James Dean films I watched decades ago in school.
I highly recommend this book.
