If you are into James Bond and are looking for a value-for-money complete boxset, then you could do a lot worse than this. This set certainly works out a lot cheaper than buying other boxsets of these films, or buying the films individually. I wouldn't consider this boxset if you are interested in the special features, though, as the discs in this set mostly just include the films themselves and have virtually no extras, apart from audio commentaries. If that is what you are looking for, then I would suggest a boxset of the Ultimate Edition Bond DVDs, or the individual Ultimate Editions themselves, which are packed with extras. If you just want the films, though and you aren't too bothered about the absence of Spectre, then this would be a great way of getting all of the films in one go. There is a handy slot at the back of the boxset for Spectre, anyway, so you could always add that later on, if you want.
To sum up, this is a superb collection for casual Bond fans who just want the films and aren't too bothered about missing Spectre. I give it the maximum five stars.
The box is pure white, which is quite annoying as i seem to keep finding dirty marks all over it, which stand out strongly against the pure white cardboard, you can at least, switch the inside box around in the sleeve so the black face of the box is only showing. Inside you get three bluray cases of different sizes, the movies are not equally distributed between each case which is annoying as you get 10 movies on two cases, then 3 movies on the last and room for Spectre, feels like they could have put more movies into the last case. These cases are also pure white on the outside and lack a lot of detail, they almost feel unfinished with the 007 logo in the corner followed by the year. On the back in plain black text is each movie in the case listed. Probably one of the biggest letdowns of this collection is the bland boring white case.
The movies themselves save the product as they are all in very good quality with plenty of special features, all the movies have the same menu which is James Bond themed with things like "Mission Select" in place of the usual "Chapter select" Or "Classified Intel" instead of "bonus features" Its a nice little touch.
As for the bonus features there is plenty of them for each movie, it really feels like they crammed just about everything they could into the bonus features of each movie with radio broadcasts, all the trailers, to pictures of merchandise released around the time of the movie, Really impressed with the special features and have not seen anything like it on any other boxset. One weird thing they do which i struggle to understand the use of, is special features of characters, gadgets, weapons, or locations, everything is listed, yet it will simply be a clip of that gadget being used in the movie with nothing extra added, the character ones simply start the movie off from that characters first appearance in the movie, I am clueless as to why your average user would be interested in seeing say a grappling hook and going to the special features to see Bond use it for 10 seconds, but like i said before it really is crammed full of features.
To finalize, the actual box is not designed that well, its very white and bland, gets dirty easily, the discs are packed nicely, however it really feels like you are just receiving a prototype of a product, the actual movies and content on the disc are amazing, with plenty to go through, the quality is very good too.
Its quite expensive but for 23 movies plus all the bonus features the price is justified, well worth it for someone who is interested in seeing some of the older James Bond movies, and a must for fans with how complete the quality and content on the discs feel.
More shelf friendly than the awkward cardboard packaging of the 50th Anniversary release, this is a definite five star recommended purchase.
I just want you to Buy, Mr. Bond!
