Have been using these for the past 4 months, with average mileage of 20 miles a day during the winter months, normally brake blocks last 3 months over the winter with the rain, grit etc, yet there is still plenty of wear left in them.

I have tried many brake blocks, from the cheap to the expensive and have always been blighted by excessive squealing, despite how i tried to clean the rims, and ive tried all methods, and the rims are a good quality rim.

The anti squeal compound does at is suggests, stops this squeal. Though not forever, after 4 months, there is a slight, intermittent squeal starting to develop in the front pair, but for the use and length of time I have had squeal free, reliable breaking, Ive given 5 stars and would highly recommend these.

These are good, low-priced blocks compatible with all types of V brake systems by SRAM, Shimano and other V brake manufacturers.

The block surfaces have three grooves to help channel water away during wet weather, and the rubber compound is medium soft to give a good balance between effective braking and excessive wear - too soft and the pad wears quickly, too hard and the pad lasts longer but tends to give less braking and puts wear on the wheel rim. Considering the low cost of these I'm happy with this softer compound with good braking and simply replace the pads when necessary.

These are easy to fit and have the necessary washers to adjust the angle of the pad so it contacts the wheel rim at the correct angle to give effective braking.

There are no wear lines to indicate when to change the pad, but as a general guide I would advise replacing them before the surface grooves have worn down.

I've set these up on V brakes with good results and also fitted them to road bike dual pivot calipers where the extra surface area, compared to standard road bike pads, gives excellent braking. No squealing encountered.

For reference the contact surface area is 67mm x 9mm and the weight of each unit is 33g.

A real bargain considering I've seen a similar product (perhaps the same product but under a different brand badge?) going for £8 a set at a local bike shop. We do seem to be overcharged terribly for all bike parts and accessories in this country, I used to take day trips to France regularly to stock up on gear like this at just a fraction of what's charged in the UK - but now we have the Amazon market place it's a whole lot easier to get good gear at a good price!

These brake blocks are so bad I can barely believe it. I first bought Jagwire brake blocks back in 2012 and they had superb stopping power in all weather conditions. The one I ordered recently (for the front and back on my Specialized hybrid) were terrible.

After fitting, I used them in both dry and wet conditions. In the dry they squealed; in the wet they left a sort of black sludge all over the rims and on parts of the bike. Also, in wet conditions the stopping power was non-existent. I know how to set up brakes for maximum performance, and the lack of braking power was definitely down to the composition of these brake blocks. No question about that. My other bike, with no-name stock brakes, does a much better job than these.

So I have I have two theories:

1. Jagwire has really, REALLY let their manufacturing standards drop. Perhaps they have moved to some weird, cheap rubber. Who knows.

2. The blocks I bought were perhaps counterfeit. They didn't even arrive on a card like the ones I purchased in 2012.

I have now fitted some more expensive blocks and they work perfectly.

Avoid these Jagwire brake blocks if you value your life on the road. They are truly awful.

They do indeed work....but for a few weeks. After a while I found I was having to brake harder and harder to stop my bike even goig at slow speeds. While these brakes have their merits, they are also not top quality and I would recommend you go for the real deal brakes i.e. get your bike brands brakes instead. However for the price...they're al right

These brakes are exactly as advertised and work very well in standard V-brake systems. I have them on my hybrid bike which I use for commuting every day (in a variety of weather conditions). The previous set of these brakes lasted over a year.

They are easy to attach and align by following any of the numerous online tutorials. They come with a good number of washers on each side to allow for virtually any alignment. To install them you just need a standard size Allen key (hex key) - the same size as for many other bike components.

If the brakes squeal when braking, it most likely means they need to be re-aligned. When aligning them, put a small coin between the front side of the brake and the rim but make sure the back of the brake touches the rim. This way, when you brake the back touches the rim first and avoids any squealing. Overall, very satisfied with this product!

I purchased these to solve my front brake squeal problem. I fitted the blocks and they squeal and shriek, just like the three other types of brake I tried previously. Tried toeing them in and toeing them out without any change.
